Organized as a civic and cultural club to aid in the betterment of Provo, the Council has celebrated its golden anniversary. Open to all women, the six sections are busy planning for the coming year. The annual rummage sale and opening banquet, both planned in September, are designed as fund-raising events for the building and to aid the new members to become acquainted. All civic minded women and those interested in the arts and cultural growth are invited to join and may contact Mrs.

Fred Loveless, council president, for further information. A tribute to Mrs, Margaret P. Maw, founder and first president of the Women's Council of Provo, will be a feature of thi Council summer board meeting, Monday at 2 p.m. at the Council Center. The date is the late Mrs.

Maw's birthday. Also honored will be the Past Presidents who, under the direction of Mrs. Sterling Ercanbrack, are maicing a drive to complete and furnish the board room, which is to be named in honor of Mrs. Maw. It will feature photographs and souvenirs of each past president.

Contributions from these women and their families will be used for light fixtures, furniture and display cases for the momentoes of the many years of civic and a MRS. and Mrs. George B. Hofmann of Ventura, Calif. A graduate of Provo High School, Sara Jane was a member of Sub Deb sorority. She has completed her junior year at the University of Utah where she has affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega, Spurs, and Panhellenic Council.

Mr. Hofmann is a graduate of Highland High School in Salt Lake City, and is a senior at the University of Utah, majoring in business management. He is a member of Sigma Nu, and serves in the 19th Special Forces of the Utah National Guard. The wedding late has been set for Sept. 19 with the ceremony to be performed at St.

Mary's Episcopal Church in Provo. A reception will follow at the Riverside Country Club. The couple will reside in Salt Lake City and resume studies at the university. She has been a momber of the Singing Mothers for 40 years and sings in the choir. She belonged to the Harmonetts in Spanish Fork for six years and was president and counselor in Primary.

She is a member of. Daughters of Utah Pioneers, holding many offices. Her hobby is beautiful hand work. They are the parents of four sons: Stewart of Manteca, Lorin of Pomona, Lynn of Smithf ield, Bernell of Benjamin. They have 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Anderson will be honored by their children at an open house to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 15, from 2 to 5 p.m. at their home in Benjamin.

They wish to extend an invitation to all friends and relatives to attend and the family request no gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were married Sept. 14, 1921.

The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have resided in Benjamin where they have both been active in civic and church affairs. Rufus Anderson was born in Lake Shore, the son of George and Rosetta Measom Anderson. He served as stake missionary in the Nebo Stake. He has been a counselor in the MIA, Sunday School and president of the High Priest Quorum.
