Full Weight Excitement prevailed in the downtown district Sunday night when a humble pole cat came to town deserting the yellow straw stacks and burrows of the country and apparently bent on the pleasure that follows the bright lights The animal picked upon a theatre about ten-thirty at night but arrived too late for admission When- the audience was to leave the Burke theater Mister Skunk was found sitting on the door-step Pandemonium resulted The crowd tumbled all over itself to get back into the body of the show house as the steps and front entrance were already permeated with too pungent a smell Every one was afraid to get too near the animal Summon the Police A call was sent to the police department and Officers Buchmann and Larsen responded It was the oddest call ever noted on the police blotter The police have been called for chicken trouble cat trouble and dog trouble but never before for pole-cat trouble Secretary Emil Meissner off duty at the time who chanced to pass the theater on his way home joined the chase to capture the animal The circumstance that handicapped the chase however was that no one pot even the officers wanted to capture the visitor Hundreds of people surrounded the spot where Mister Pole-Cat sat and all volunteered 'suggestions but only at a safe distance Want to Shoot Him Of course the police could have used their guns and fired a bullet into the hide but with the cuning of his species the skunk at bay had chosen a strategic position He was sitting up against the tiling and a bullet could not be fired at him without shattering the expensive material Meanwhile thet audience was let out through a side door in order that panic might not result again at the entrance The problem was finally solved by a youth from the country who appeared to know pole-cat ways He secured a wooden box and advanced cautiously upon the beastie Pole-cat who seemed deeply interested by everything WILL START NEW DRIVE Public Health Questions by
