Mr.

Gordon of Henry whose suspension, followed that of Offenbach Moore, was a director of tbe Dominion Securities Co. Henry made aa announcement that their embarrassment would be but temporary, and' that they bad suspended for tbe time being ia order to protect their customers. Evans, formerly a private ia the Twelfth infantry, testified to seeing the water cure administered to two insurgents ia northern Luzon, to compel them to give information concerning concealed arms. For a few days it looked as though the merger suit might be compromised, Wbea, however, the administration dis covered that there was no sincere desire to reform and prevent abuses which might grow out ot tbe combination, and that no assurance of such intention could be seemed, tbe representatives of tbe merger were told plainly that there would be no turning back, aad that their efforts were futile. Tbe new calendar shows seventy-one courses. Prof, Dexter, of tbe university of Illi nois, is making a specialty of a new department of science, which he calls physi ological meteorology, which means the ef fect of the weather upon tbe human health, temper and actions. He declares that ia calms there are three times as many absences from school as when the wind is blowing at a oormal rate, aad that there are onlyvabcut half as many cases of mis conduct and two-thirds as many deaths. The professor thinks that, during these calms those life phenomena which are due to depleted vitality are excesssive, while those due to excessive vitality are deficient in number.
