What was not loaded of tbe past week's output was, however, equalled by tbe shipment of the last remnant of reserve stock from last year. Tbe amount of ore oa band tbe first of the year was not large, and now this is gone. Tbe continuance ol wintry condi- tons for six weeks reduced tbe output to a minimum, and all the time additions to tbe smelting capacity was steadily creating a larger demand.

New York, March 3 The great flood that bas inundated a large part of the mill section of Peterson, subsided some what daring the night and it is believed tbe worst is over. The estimated loss wrought by tbe flood there is little or no insurance to cover it. Many more families have been rendered homeless by flood than were made so by fire, and the relief committee, whose las bors were becoming lighter daily, is now hard at work seeking to assist those wbo have lost everything by high water. She at a Bab aaaTBea Atteaapte4 ta Cans salt Suicide. Jacksonville, 111, March 3. Last night Ida Guthrie, of Concord, this couaty, made an attempt to kill Mitchell Decker, wbo was recently married. She weat to bis home, celled him out aad then fired at bim, the ball passing through bis clothing without injuring him. Decker grsp pled with the womaa and disarmed her, but she escaped from him, and running to a creek near the scene of the shooting, threw herself in.

Savannah, Mo, March 3 The trial of Stewsrt Fife for the murder of Frank Richardson will begin a week from today. Fifa was arraigned today and bis attoraey entered a plea of aot guilty.
