MILWAUKEE, new tractor in the low priced field featuring rear-mounted engine design wu recently placed in production it the Allis-Chalmcri Mfg. Company's Gadt- den, Alabama, plant.

A noteworthy feature of the new light weight Model tractor it the unusually wide range of operator- visibility permitted by the rear-mounted engine design. By shifting the engine to the rear, A-C engineers report they have succeeded in mounting farm in full view of the operator. A complete line of front-mounted, quick hitch, companion implements designed especially for use with the new tractor is also being produced by the company's tractor division. The new Model tractor is equipped with a 4-cylinder, L-head a bore; stroke; 62 cu. in.

piston is capable of handling one 12-inch moldboard plow in average soils at customary plowing depths. It has 4 forward speeds, including a super-low gear for operations requiring extremely slow speeds. Fuel consumption is low, running from 2 to quarts pet hour under medium to heavy loads. Tractor wheel treads can be adjusted to fit any row-crop spacing. Any of the implements can be attached to the tractor or removed from it in minutes or less.

The plow, like the planters and cultivators, is mounted ahead of the radical departure from conventional practice. In a prepared statement, W. A. Roberts, Allis-Chalmers Executive Vice President, said: "In the new Model tractor and implements designed for ft, we believe we have contributed a farm iool that will further advanct the mechanization of agriculture, lowet form production costs, and place the advantages of mechanization within reach of thousands of farmers, who are still using animals and other unprofitable forms of farm power. "We believe that this tractor will find a useful place on family farms of all types and sizes, because of its) adaptability to all field operations, par.
