Banker Convicted of Petty Thievery Winfield, Kan.y'' May 16. Stafford, vice president of local bank, aecountcil one men of Winfield, was' convicted by a jury today on five counts, charging theft of cigars from local dealers. The testimony was to the effect that Stafford on seven occasions too more cigars than he paid for. It was testified that he asked salesmen: for three cigars for a quarter and while the latter 's back was turned took one or two others from the box. Sentence was deferred.

Stafford's attorneys stated that the case will be appealed. The defense alleged that Andrew Kader, one of the cigar dealers who made the charges, was actuated by personal animosity. Chas. Ziesenis and Mrs. li. II. Stewart were guests of the club.

The afternoon was spent at sewing at the close of which the hostess served a dainty luncheon, carried out in the club colors, yellow and white. Yellow roses were given as favors. Mrs. L. A.

Gustafson will be the next hostess, June 3th. Quotations to be from Abe Martin. 4 4 Baptist Social. Tonight the Christian Endeavor of the Baptist church will give a social in the eurch parlors for the Haskell Indians. Gaines have been planned for Vne evening and light refreshments will be served.

Miss Claribelle Lupton was the charming hostess of a perfectly appointed dinner party at ner home last night. Miss Lupton had as her guests the retiring members of the W.

S. G. A. and. the members of the Torch Society and Mrs.

Esterly. The live course dinner served at quartette tables was perfect in every detail. In he center of each table was a dainty basket filled with pink sweet peas and lillies of the valley and at each corner of the table was a chrystal candle of the table was a crystal candle After the dinner the guests spent the evening at cards. 4" Senior Girls Tea. Yestcrady afternoon the senior girls of the university gave a tea for the faculty at Haworth Hall.

On the receiving line was Miss Francis Black, Miss Elsie Fleeson and. Mrs. Campbell. The decorations used were green and white, the senior class colors. In the refreshments the color scheme of green and white was carried out.

All kinds of entertainment have been provided and at night there will be a dance in the pavillion. 4 4 4 Alpha Delta Phi Founders Day. The Alpha Delta Phi sorority celebrated its local founders day by a banquet at their chapter house last night. The girls were all seated at one long table. Airdome Saturday In twenty-four hours the gates of the Airdome on New Hampshire will be thrown open to the public with the Broadway Players as the attraction and the three act comedy "My Lord in Livery" the play.

Till, company have been in rehearsal two weeks, insuring good and smooth performances. The Broadway Players are in a class by themselves, producing absolutely the best and latest comedies and plays of the- day.
