mom mobile studio far on-site telecasts The heart of the Fair telecommunications system is this 30-foot mobile television production studio made available to WSJK-TV by a grant from the North American Philips Corp ice to the Fair and the people of East Tennessee is the of a new future of close corporation between his station-and corporate citizens such as Curtis said with costs being covered by the Department of Education out of the $900000 grant from NAPC grant and the joint efforts of WSJK-TV and North American Philips for the serv use by WSJK-TV NAPC and the Tennessee Department of Education owner of WSJK-TV had agreed that NAPC would design assemble and equip the mobile studio service to the people ot East Curtis also expressed appreciation to North American Philips for the work in preparing the mobile station for WSJK-TV East Tennessee's public television station WSJK-TV plans to use a state-of-the-art mobile control studio the station will receive in April The studio is being made available to the station by a $900000 grant from North American Philips Corp official television equipment supplier to the 1982 Fair The mobile studio will be used first as the production and programming portion of the first telecommunications system ever used at a Fair In announcing plans for the mobile studio WSJK-TV General Manager A1 Curtis said the studio and its equipment will be used to provide on-site video seryices during the 1982 Fair in Knoxville May 1-Oct 31 WSJK-TV with transmitter at Sneedville Tenn has perma--nent studios in Knoxville on the University of Tennessee campus adjacent to the Fair site WSJK-TV has contracted with Knoxville's International Energy Exposition- organizer of the 1982 Fair to oper- -ate the studio on the fairgrounds throughout the Fair Under the contract WSJK-TV personnel will staff a 374-hour production period each week of the Fair and provide programming for the distribution portion of the NAPC-supplied telecommunications system 12 hours a day The WSJK-TV studio and staff will also be available through KIEE to provide production services for Fair participants as well as entertainment and information 'media Curtis noted After the Fair closes Curtis said the mobile studio and its equipment will be used to provide a full range of video production services and locally produced programming for the benefit of more than 18 million people in the viewing area Delivery of the fully equipped mobile studio represents the fulfillment of a year and a half of planning by WSJK-TV The Fair and North American Philips Corporation Curtis said equipment will allow us to accomplish a very great amount of good for a very large number of he added Curtis said that North American Philips Corporation as official television equipment supplier to the Fair had chosen to provide the heart of its $12 million video production system to the Fair through WSJK-TV He quoted NAPC Chairman Pieter Vink as making the award recognition of 15 years of exemplary MOW AVAILABLE!
