ASHEVILLE Robert W. Harrell, 86, of Can- dler, NC, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, and Bre- vard, NC, died on August 10, 2019. A native of Fitzgerald, GA, Robert was the son of the late Leon Lamar and Ruth H. Harrell. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Corry Harrell.

Mr. Harrell is survived by his daughters, Ann Zipperer (Craig), of Evington, VA, and Elizabeth (Gary Harkins), of Asheville, NC; and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Kelly Zipperer, both of Evington. Mr. Harrell proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an officer.

He then graduated from Geor- gia Tech with a degree in chemical engineering. He retired from SCM Glidco Organic Chemicals Co. and from the U.S. SWFLANT Missile Facility. He was a member of the American In- stitute of Chemical Engineers, Alpha Chi Sigma Chemical Fraternity, and NARFE.

He served as an active deacon at Hodges Blvd. Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville, FL, and was a long-time trustee at Highlands Methodist Church, also in Jacksonville. He was most recently a mem- ber of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. A memorial service for Mr. Harrell will be held at 1:00 p.m.

on Saturday, August 17, at Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Asheville, NC 28806. Harrell MARS HILL Maggie Lou Robinette Howard February 2, 1929 to August 9, 2019 Maggie Lou passed away in her sleep Friday evening August 9, 2019. She was 90 years young. She was born in Church Hill, Tennessee to Sallie Lou(Hutchens) and Walter Thomas Robinette, and attended Dobyns-Bennett High School, then worked at Kingsport Press and Eastman-Kodak. She married in 1947 and moved to Aiken, South Carolina, where she began raising her children. A divorce and subsequent remarriage to Edwin Ca- vanaugh Howard brought her to Mars Hill in 1967.

Except for the first six months, she has resided in their home on California Creek Road. She and Ed owned and worked together in their business, RX Drugs, for close to thirty years. In addition to keeping books and working in the store, she became a Re- altor in about 1970 working at Wolf Laurel resort for a few years, and then independently buying, selling, and renting properties, remodeling homes, (relocating a few) and building houses primarily in the Mars Hill area. All the while, she was maintaining a home, marriage, and children. She continued working in real estate up until the time of her death.

She was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 5483 in Mars Hill which she also continued until the time of her death. Once the children flew the coop, she and Ed joined Circle 8 Square Dancing club, making numerous new friends. In her time, she truly loved working outside, planting flowers, trees, and vegetables, as evidenced by her beautiful yard. She was an excellent cook, seamstress and needle-worker, homemaker, protector and the while maintaining honesty and integrity in her business dealings and personal life, striving to instill these traits in her children. She was generous with words and love whenever either was needed.

She will be placed at rest at the Cemetery at Black Mountain with her husband. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Carl and Er- nest, and her husband, Ed Howard. She is survived by her children, Karla Griffin (Andy) of Arlington, Tennessee, Revonda Maher (Bill) of Mars Hill, Suzetta Wolfe (Charlie) of Greensboro, and Timmy Bragg of Donalsonville, Georgia. She leaves behind five grandchildren, Amy Bragg Cannon (Casey), Sam Griffin (Paul Thomas), Matthew Wolfe, Aaron Wolfe and Walter Griffin. She adored her three great grand-daughters, Cassandra Michelle, Sabrina Nicole, and Courtney Elizabeth Cannon.

The family would like to thank caregivers Carolyn Roberts, Doris Edwards, Marie Gunter, and the staff of Madison Home Health. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, with a re- ception immediately following the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A native of Candler, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Hugh and Geneva Rose Payne Sexton.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Howard Taylor, grandson William Scott Fullbright and brothers Kenneth Hugh Sexton and Kenny Sexton. She was one in a million. An excellent baker, she loved baking cakes, pies and candy, especially a red-velvet cake for her brother. She loved her daughter, Pam, grandchildren and great-grand- children, and is now reunited with her husband of 50 years, George. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Dan- ner of Candler; grandchildren Robert Seth Full- bright (Kayson), Katrina Lynette Fullbright and Randall Scott Buffington (Kyrsten Schneider); great-grandchildren Brayden Seth Fullbright, Mya Paige Fullbright, Tanner Levi Fullbright and Ava Rose Buffington; and her brother Jerry Sexton (Phyllis).

Inurnment services for both Elizabeth and George Taylor will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Mon- day, August 19, 2019 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Candler, North Carolina with Rev. Jackie Collins officiating. Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn is caring for the family. Elizabeth Ann Sexton Taylor FLETCHER Shirley Jean (Wilkie) Calton, 77, of Fletcher, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Mission Hospital.

Born in Henderson County, she was the wife of Maurice Calton of Fletcher, and the daughter of the late Rev. Woodrow Wilson and Lila (Worsham) Wilkie. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Calton. She was a member of Fletcher First Baptist Church, Fletcher. Shirley loved flowers and working in her garden.

She was especially skilled at making silk flower arrangements. She especially adored her 4 grand- children: Bryce, Sydney, Shawn, and Makayla. In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her children, Annie Clayton and Shannon Calton (Carrie), all of Fletcher; siblings Lucille Green (Marvin) of Falston, NC, James Wilkie (Judy) and Gerri Watkins, all of Fletcher; and Kenneth Wilkie (Nina) of Hendersonville. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at Fletcher First Baptist Church, 5 Cane Creek Fletcher, NC 28732 with Pastor Roy Waldroup officiating. Friends will be received at the church 2 hours prior to the service.
