side of the front seat of his car on Route 730 near the bridge over the spillway from Lake Cowan about 12:30 Tuesdy Kenneth Gallimore 29 and Har ry Hosier 18 who live nearby on Old State Road told Sheriff oote they heard Nissen honking the horn of his car and when they drove up he waved for them to stop When they stopped the men said Nissen told them been and said he wanted to go to the hospi tal The men told Sheriff o6te they thought he was joking at first and then they saw blood on his shirt Gallimore got into the Nis sen car and drove him to Wilming ton and Hosier followed in his car Nissen did not say much on the trip Gallimore said but told him his name where he worked and that he wanted to go past where his wife worked and get her Gal limore told Sheriff oote he asked Nissen if he wanted him to drive faster or slower during the trip to Wilmington and he said it matter They stopped at tavern which the Nissens have just recently purchased to pick up Mrs Nissen and she accompanied them to the hospital Nissen talked to Gallimore he said but his legs were paralyzed When hie was lifted out of the oar and placed on a cart at the hospi talise became unconscious Sher iff oote was told GALLIMORE AND Hosier then returned to the place where they had found Nissen and they discov ered a 22 caliber target pistol ly ing in the grass beside the road They called the office and the pistol was recovered andbrought to the sheriff's office by Deputy Sheriff David Shrout and Prosecutor George Schilling Sr as Sheriff oote was out of town at the time Gallimore and Hosier told Sher iff dbte later that they had found a pup near the lake a short! time before and that when they heard Nissen blowing the horn on his car they thought it might be the owner of the pup and they took it college study Attorney General Defines Laws On Dependent Children COLUMBUS Ohio (B Atty Gen William O'Neill explained today how juvenile courts should determine county responsibility for the care and medical treat ment of dependent and neglected children A ruling said courts should foL low the same statutory definition of "legal or residence used to fix county responsibility under Ohio poor re lief laws An opinion to Prosecutor John Bath of ayette County said the term had been used in Ohio for more than a century in poor relief laws to de termine which local subdivisions should support neglected Wilmington Man in Cincinnati Hospital George A Nissen 47 52 South Wood street is in serious condi tion in Christ Hospital Cincinnati with two gunshot wounds but it cannot be definitely determined if they were self inflicted as he is un conscious Nissen was brought first to Clin ton Memorial Hospital where he was treated and then sent to a spe cialist in Cincinnati Dr Nathan Hale local sur geon who performed an abdom inal operation on Nissen before he was sent to the specialist said one bullet wound was in his neck and that the bullet had lodged between the sixth and seventh cervical ver tibrae 'x The other bullet entered the up per left part of his abdomen passed through the colon nicked the pancreas made four holes in the small intestines creased his kidney and broke the 12th rib Nis sen was able to move his arms? but was paralyzed below that Dr Hale said Dr rank Plymire accompanied Nissen in the ambu lance to Christ Hospital Preston Locker Blanchester high school brought to Clinton Mem orial Hospital and then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Cincin nati Robert Young 35 570 West Locust street is in serious condi tion Dr Nathan Hale Wilming ton surgeon who treated him said Young is suffering from a serious head injury laceration of his forehead possible brain hemorrhage and numerous scratches State Highway Patrolman Doug las White who investigated the ac cident on Texas road near Regan road eight miles east of Wilming 1 ten said the Guy Brown family which lives nearby reported see ing lights of the car about 3 a today Young was not found until shortly before 7 a The patrol received a call about him being in the car unconscious at 6:40 a and Patrolman White went to the scene Young apparently was traveling southwest on Texas road and failed to make a curve in the road Patrolman White said The car skidded on the curve hit a mail box and then struck a culvert flipping the car around The right front door glass was broken and it is believed that head may have hit this glass When found he was lying with his head against the left door' TWO PERSONS suffered minor injuries in another accident in New Antioch this morning at 4 clock Patrolman White said Ray mond Totten 28 of Clinton County Air orce Base was driv ing north on New Antioch road near the grain mill and his car went bff the left side of the road missed the bridge and ran into a Chandler would not re sign to take the senate left vacant by the death of Barkley Monday Youthful Slayer Ruled To Be Sane EATON A 17 year old boy accused of slaying his foster par ents has been declared legally sane by a panel of psychiatrists The boy Kenneth Bowman was returned yesterday to the Preble County jail His trial on two counts Of first degree murder is expected to start May 14 Bowman is accused of shooting Mr and Mrs Harold Bowman near West Alexandria last Sent 4 and then burning their bodies The bodes were found in the Bowman automobile along a high way and the youth told
