Those with A grades were John Gowdy, Delia Tisdal, Cherry Keahey, Margaret Conger, Margaret McComas, all ninth grade; Charlotte Woody, Judy Johnson, Brite Hedlund, Jill Stallsmith, eighth grade; and Carol Herron, Kris Johnson.

'Ike' Peace, 409 Eisenhower, Elk City, graduat5, from the Navy's Officer Candidate School at the Naval Base Newport, R. I. The 18-week course, comprised of college graduates and qualified personnel from the fleet, is designed to give them a basic foundation for careers as naval officers. Upon graduation they are assigned to commands ashore and a- float throughout the world. Ensign Peace is a graduate from the University of Oklahoma with a geology major.

Young Peace was married Monday, Feb. 8. to Miss Norma Williams Oklahoma City, and left for his new assignment at Jacksonville, for an eight-week study in the Navy's aerial radar program. His parents are both teachers in the Elk City school system. The young Naval officer is also 2 nephew of Mr.

and Mrs. Leroy Johnson of Elk City, Joe F. Hart's Rites Conducted Tuesday Services for Joe F. Hart, 208 N. Washington, were held at 2:30 p.

Grayson county, Mr. Hart died at his home Sunday, Feb. 7. following an illness of several years. Married to Nettie E.

Musick Oct. 20, 1901, in Port community, Mr. Hart came to Elk City in 1901 and settled on a farm southwest of town, and in 1907 moved into the city. He was a member of the First Baptist church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs.

Joe F. Hart, home address: two sons, Orville D. Hart, Elk City: O.R. Hart, Paoli, two daughters. Mrs.

E. L. Houston, Mannford, and Miss Gayle Hart. Elk City: a sister, Mrs. Ben Roberts, Hollis; four grandchildren and three' great grandchildren.

Burial was in Fairlawn cemetery under direction of MartinHullum funeral home. Armour Company To Close Elk Plant Operations On Saturday After 31 years operation in Elk City, the Armour Company plant will cease operations here Saturday, Feb. 6. The plant began operations here in 1928 and has continued since that date, but in recent months has cut back some operations. Joe Slama, who had managed the plant here for the past nine years, recently was transferred to the company's new plant in Murfreesboro, Ark.

Since then the supervision has been handled by Mark Stanley of the Chickasha plant. Stanley said that it is with regrets that the company no longer finds it feasible to continue poulry processing and creamery operations in Elk City. The action, he said, was taken only after exten- 140 4-H club members at the Banquet program held in night. district extension agent and leader was guest speaker for program. 13, 1871. in Germany, the 88-year-old Mrs. Dippel died Friday, Feb. 5, in Elk City after a one-year ilness. Married to Charles Dippel in 1890 in Gatesville, Mrs.

Dippel had resided in Custer county, near Foss, since 1902 until moving to Clinton in 1918 and Elk City in 1952. She was a member of the Nazarene church. Survivors include two sons, Lewis Dippel, Lawton, and E. H. Dippel, Houston, four daughters, Mrs.

Claude Beckham, Foss; Mrs. John Black, Sandpoint, Idaho; Mrs. Bob Busch and Mrs. Cal Byrd, both of Elk City; one brother, William Treder, Sentinel: 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1914, three children, Mamie Beckham.

1888, in Franklin county, near Charleston, Mr Maxwell died a at his home Wednesday, Feb. 3. He had been troubled with a heart ailment. Married to Lucy Williams in 1912 in Stratford, where he moved from Arkansas in 1906. In 1924 he moved to Mt.

View and in 1936 came to Elk City where he had lived since. He vas a member of the Central Baptist church. Survivors include his wife of the home: four sons. A. Clifford (Pete), Amon, and O.

C. Maxwell all of Elk City; two daughters, Mrs Glenna Stark, San Bernardino and Mrs. Ozell Schweback. Germany; two step-sons, Curtis Williams, Fort Sill, and Bob Williams, Portland. a stepdaughter, Mrs.

Ruth Lyons, Covina, three sisters, Mrs. Fannie. Williams, Ravia, Mrs. Dora Bartlett, Chickasha, and Mrs. Mollie Grace, Ada; 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

weighing seven pounds, three ounces. Assessor Here Property Tax Renditions County Assessor Lola Butler McClellan and her staff workers are at the Farmers National Bank from 9 a. m. to 4:30 p. m.

Monday thru Fridays, each week through Feb. 28, to take property tax renditions and homestead exemptions from property owners in this area. Renditions will de waken until March 15 without penalty. Homeowners must file applications for homestead exemption each year and unless application is on file by March 15 the owner forfeits exemption for the year. Taxpayers are requested to bring last year's assessment papers with them when they come to make renditions this year.

L. Vosburg's Hammon Rites Held Thursday Services for LaCour Vosburg, 76- year -old retired painter and highway employee of Hammon, were held at 2 n. m. Thursday from the Hammon highschool auditorium with Albert Trent, Tipton, and Paul Evans, Braman, officiating. Born Dec.

24, 1883, in Cleburne, Mr. Vosburg died Tuesday, Feb. 9. following a heart seizure while visiting in the sheriff's office in Cheyenne. He had lived in the Hammon area in Roger Mills county since 1899 and was married to Flossie Blount in Hammon on April 19, 1924.

He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a 32nd degree Mason. Survivors include his wife, Flossie, of the home; two step-daughters, Mrs. Ida Mae Trent, Hammon, and Mrs. Madge Elliott. Woodward; three step-sons, John Blount, Hammon; and Sgt.

Dene Blount and Sgt. Gene Blount, both of Elk City, and one brother, George S. Vosburg, Austin, Tex. Burial was in Red Hill cemetery, Hammon, under direction of Martin-Hullum funeral home. Former Elk Cityan Found Dead In Arizona Sunday Friends in Elk City early Monday were informed of the death of Calvin Green, former Elk Cityan, lately of Tollison, Ariz.

Mr. Green was found dead Sunday and no other details concerning his death were available today. CONGRATULATIONS Mr. and Mrs. J.

L. King, Elk City, are parents of a son born on Sunday at Memorial hospital. The infant arrived at 5:35 a. weighing eight pounds, 11 ounces. IT'S A GIRL Mr.

O'Donnell, El Reno, will be held Friday at 10 a. m. from the St. Joseph Catholic church with Rev. John O'Brien officiating.

Born May 27, 1915, in Elk City, Mr. O'Donnell. El Reno livestock dealer, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, near Meade, of a broken neck in a car accident. He reportedly missed a curve, causing the accident.

Married to Billie Jarrell June 1, 1939, in -Elk City, Mr. O'Donnell was a veteran of WWII, entering service in 1942. He had lived in the state most of his life and was a member of the Catholic church. Survivors include his wife, Billie two sons, Michael James, 15, and James Michael. 5.

Simon, Canute, were held at 10 a. m. Saturday from the Holy Family church in Canute. Born Jan. 16, 1878, in Kansas.

Mr. Simon died Thursday, Feb. 4. in an Oklahoma City hospital following a two-weeks illness. Married to Mary Florence Beaver in 1898.

Mr. Simon and family moved to Canute in 1916 from Kansas and had lived there since. His wife died in 1936 and he was married to Sophia Kamphaus in 1940. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic church and Forresters. Survivors include his wife of the home: two sons, Bill Simon, Camerilla, and Ralph Simon, Kalama, five daughters, Mercides Hauback, Pittsburgh, Louise Kilhoffer, Canute: Annie King, Erick; Bernita Peterson, Covina, and Regina Landguth, Oklahoma City.

Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Frances Ziegenfuss, Canute: a step-son, Pete Mann. Canute: 27 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nick Martin, Andale, Kan. He was preceded in death by his first wife and four children.

Burial was in the Holy Family cemetery in Canute under direction of Savage funeral home. IT'S A GIRL Mr. and Mrs. James Kelly, Elk City, are parents of a daughter born at 6:29 p. m.
