Grandeur doesn't need much space in this month's exhibition at Tarleton State University's Dora Lee Langdon Cultural Educational Center. Pat Tomlinson's "The Art of Small" is a collection of the artist's work in miniature. All the watercolors, oils and pastels are twelve inches by twelve inches or less, but the scenes are as expansive as Texas landscapes on a spring day.

In fact, Texas springs with bluebonnets are featured in the show. Tomlinson lives in Granbury with her husband on their farm. Her favorite moments are when she has a paintbrush in her hand applying the day's media to paper or canvas. Color is important to the artist whether it is vibrant and bright or soft and subtle. It has been said that Tomlinson's art can be very impressionistic or very detailed.

She is best known for her beautiful florals, humming birds, seashells and landscapes. All are part of the March Langdon Center exhibit. Spring into computer, caning classes second. The Commissioners Court believes that this Court-at-Law will enhance the county budget with fines that will be generated. The Commissioners Court did not want a lack of prosecution to create a backlog of unprosecuted defendants' who were a threat to the safety of law-abiding citizens of Hood County. I stand corrected if it has happened, but I have as of now, never read, seen or heard anyone say anything about those that have been accused of a crime that may not be guilty.

Without a court some have been on the docket for years waiting for a trial. Check the court records for yourself and see how many of these people have been found not guilty and released. This county, having resisted this type of system for many years, has now come of age. The citizens of the county have an operating court at their disposal. The court is being handled by a long time trusted county official that has given this county his very best for sixteen years.

I remember reading an article in Hood County News that someone made the comment "How could Richard Hattox be a fair judge after so many years as a prosecutor?" I personally was tangled up in the old system and had it not been for Richard Hattox proving his honesty, integrity and fairness to all, things could have been much worse. I personally believe that Judge Hattox can do for, this County Court what Judge Walton has done for the District Court; I strongly urge the voters of Hood County to keep Richard Hattox on the payroll, he has earned it. i i.
