with a 2-8 record The loss overshadowed a sterling formanceby ETSU passing phenom Alan Chadwick a prime professional prospect who hit on 22 of 39 passes for 308 yards through the airways ETSU whose 11th and final game will be next week at U-T Chattanooga dropped to a dismal 4-6 mark for he season Bill Hammon a churning halfback gave the ETSU defense a headache with his second-effort running He rolled up 161 of APSUs 270 total rushing yardage on 16 runs Upset Ole Miss Grinds Out 28-18 Win But Orange Is Still Bowl-Bound By RON BUSS Times-News Sports Writer ROGERSVILLE Deer hunting is a family affair for the Drinnon brothers Saturday at sunrise five of the brothers Clay of Newport Johnny of Morristown and Danny Billy and Tooty of Rogersville set out to hunt deer on their fathers 240-acre farm near here and less than five hours later combined for one of the heftiest single party kills in the area on the first day of gun-archery deer season In one volley the brothers cut down three deer totaling 21 antler points and 519 pounds field-dressed Wed heard them all morning butting heads fighting but couldnt see them because of the brush explained Tooty Drinnon So we put two guys in three stands at one end of the area and used the other three of us to flush them out where we could get a shot There were two bucks and a doe when they first saw them but a third buck jumped up and took off as they ran by When in the open the brothers opened fire with Danny Johnny and Clay scoring the kills Dannys was one of the biggest of the day in Hawkins County His buck totaled eight points and scaled out at 190 pounds field dressed one pound shy of the biggest of the day a 191-pound eight-point buck killed by Robert Boling of Kingsport Johnnys had seven points and weighed 141 pounds and Clays had six points and scaled out at 188 pounds The deer were three of 87 reported killed in Hawkins County Saturday The total was 33 shy of the 120 deer total registered on the first day of the Vols to the Ole Miss four shortly before the half But Stanback was trapped for a five-yard loss on third down and Townsend came in to kick his field goal The Vols got their first touchdown late in Garry Rolen scorched the nets for 27 points here Saturday night and forward Steve Rutledge tossed in 21 to pace the Cougars as they dropped the Church Hill Panthers 77-69 The Cougars scored 13 points before the Panthers could dent the scoring column but saw Coach Bod Davis crew battle back to within four points at intermission 32-28 The Panthers came out in the third stanza in a full-court press
