Hosts for' the three days were Mary and Dean Forth, Mary and Jimmie Dixon and Peggy and Will Humphreys.

They kept the iced tea, coffee and moving. Cooks for Saturday's fish fry, hush puppies, french fries, etc. were CJvde Deckerd, E.T. Macky and Will Humphreys, with fish supplied by Alma and Bill Holland. Others brought cole slaw and deserts to complete a dinner where none went away hungry.

Four young men, ages 10-11, caught a large number of fish from the small lake, cleaned them, and took them home. Grandchildren of members, they were David Burton, Sean Tippit and Jeff and Danny Humphreys. They had the time of their lives and were a joy for all to watch. Other guests were Flo Harrington of Brownwood, Lester and Earlene Phillips of OTS and Joe and Frances Mathis of Williams-berg. Special guests were Ann and Bill Murry, owners of the park and ranch.

Voted in as new members were Leata and Earl De Mouy and Miriam and Harold Stace. Membership is now at 35 rigs, with a limit of 40. E.T. and Earlene Macky presented the club with a U.S. flag, which fits nicely beside the Good Sam flag and the Granbury Sam flag.

Ray Sparkman made the stand to hold the flags. Earlene Weatherly, Woody Sims and Jimmie Dixon were appointed to the program committee and are planning new and interesting activities. Wagonmaster, Buck Mc-Cullough, reported that 21 rigs have signed on for the trip to Big Bend in October, with several returning by way of the Fall Samboree in Abilene, where they will be joined by other Granbury SamS. Curtis Key and Peggy Biggs led the devotional service Sunday morning and the day ended with a pot-luck lunch. The September camping trip for Granbury Sams will be at Arrowhead Park on Lake Brown-wood.

It's all simply a question of calories consumed, deleted or burned off. What exactly is a calorie? A calorie is the unit by which the energy value of food is measured. All foods, except water and non-caloric diet drinks, have calories. There are no "good calories" or "bad calories" nutritionally but there are foods which give you little but calories, and others which give you calories plus nutrients.

To reduce weight gain, cut down first on portions from the fats and sweets group. If you are still gaining weight, cut down on serving sizes from all other foods groups cut down, but don't cut out and select the lower calorie foods within each food group. To gain weight, eat larger serving from all the food groups, including some foods from the fats and sweets group. In each food group, study the caloric selections. For example in the milkcheese group choose ice mile rather than a milkshake to lose weight.

Compare cereals as follows: one cup plain corn flakes, 95 calories; one cup sugar coated corn flakes, 155 calories; one-half cup crunchy cereal, 290 calories. Or compare one slice of bread (55-70 calories), with one corn muffin 125 calories or one Danish pastry at 275 calories). Compare one ounce cheddar cheese at 115 calories with 430 calories in one cup of macaroni and cheese. Or a medium raw apple at 80 calories with one-eighth of a nineinch applie pie at 300 calories. You get the idea to lose or gain weight adjust the caloric values of the foods you select.

Many people think of losing weight as just cutting out food and calories. We have no control over the basic energy of our bodiesbut we can control the amount and kind of physical activity. Physical activity is very important in the weight picture. A man with an office job where he aits most of the day burns up only 2500 calories a day. His neighbor doing heavy physical labor will burn up as much as 4500 calories.

A man involved in sports and very heavy physical work may burn up 6000 calories. Research has shown that overweight women walk less than women of normal weight. Overweight women walk about 2.1 miles a day while women of normal weight walk an average of 4.9 miles. Inherited overweight also can be controlled or reduced by exercise and increased physical activity. Most people find it easier to engage in moderate activities on a regular basis than in strenuous activities.

The more often an activity occurs, the more likely it is to become a regular habit. Walking rapidly for 20 minutes every day burns up 3000 calories in a month 3500 calories is a pound of fat. Make a conscious effort to move around more, especially iiv walking. Park your car an extra block away from work and walk. Do household tasks that require you to move around more.

Here is a very light activity level-one to two caloriesminute: seated office work, sewing, knitting, peeling potatoes, etc. A light activity level burns two to 3.9 calories per minute-walking on level ground 2.5 to three mileshour, golfing, table tennis, meal preparation. A moderate activity bums four to six calories per minute walking 3.5 to four miles per liour, cycling, racquet ball, dancing, tennis. Heavy activity levels bum six to 10 calories per minute-swimming, football, jogging. Think about becoming more active, whatever your current activity level is.

You will feel better as well as control weight. In conjunction with the current emphasis on sports nutrition, sports injuries are also a concern. The expression "Put your money County Extension Agent where your mouth is" could take on a different meaning for the thousands of Americans who each year suffer sports-related injuries to their mouths or faces. "Despite the new innovations in the mouth and face guard technology during the past decades, many athletes still subject themselves to needless injury" according to Dr. I.

Lawrence Kerr, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon serving as Chariman of the Committee on Dental Health of the U.S. Olympic Committee. The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that in 1983 there were 81,337 injuries to the mouth and face suffered by baseball players of all ages and expertise. Estimates for mouth and face injuries in other sports include: football, ice hockey, wrestling, boxing, field hockey, and lacrosse, 1,233. The least expensive and simplest form of protection is an internal mouth guard.

New synthetic materials and advances in engineering and design have resulted in mouth guards sturdier yet lightweight enough to allow ease of breathing. Mouth guards can vary from the "boil and bite" models to the custom-fabricated guards which can be adapted to the athlete's sport. Dr Kerr recommends that athletes participating in basket-Bail, soccer, water polo, handball, rugby, karate, judo, gymnastics and equestrian events be fitted with mout.fr guards by a dentist or oral surgeon. More elaborate protective equipment is available for other sports including football, baseball, ice hockey, wrestling, boxing, lacrosse, and field hockey. I have a supply of leaflets entitled "Sports Safety-Give Yourself a Sporting Chance" which details the protective equipment which should be worn during various sports activities.

If he does, do I have any recourse? Yes, an employer has the right to terminate an employee because of an arrest. However, if your employer has a grievance procedure, you may be able to have the termination reviewed. State agencies typically have grievance committees and procedures for review. Many private industries and firms also describe these procedures in office manuals or personnel policies.

Unless review is available, you probably have no recourse against your employer.
