Beatrice Fairfax Says: Wife Has More Than Ample Justification For Divorcing Man Dear Beatrice Fairfax: Five years ago, when my husband was in Texas in the Air Force, I could not take my little boy, then 4, and go to join him, as I was expecting another child shortly.

Instead, my husband was to come home when the baby was born and take all of us back with him when the baby was old enough to travel. But instead of coming home, he wrote me 8 letter asking me to sue him for divorce. He said he knew neither his parents nor I would approve the things he had been doing -drinking, gambling, lost all the money he had saved and got a 17-year-old girl in trouble. The reason he wanted a divorce was so he could marry this girl. I wrote and told him I would neither sue him nor give him 8 divorce.

So then he sued me, say: ing that I had refused to come and live with him. His parents got me a lawyer who proved that everything my husband said was false, and his suit was thrown out of court. He has not written to any of us since then, except to send his parents three announcements of babies born to him and this girl. His parents are very good to the children and me, and my fatherin-law told me that, when he was gone, his son's share of what he has will go to my two boys. They do not want me to get a divorce, though.

HAD TO ACCEPT PUBLIC ASSISTANCE When my allotment from the government suddenly stopped, I found out that my husband had been discharged from the Air Force. I swore out a warrant for him, but was told they didn't know where to start hunting for him. So had to go on public assistance in order to live and take care of my two children, and have just $64 month to do everything on. Now I would like to get a divorce, because there is 8 doctor here in town who seems to be interested in me and my children. He has never been married, and I think he would go with me if I had my divorce.

He takes my oldest boy around with him when he come here and play games with him in the evening, and gave both boys many lovely gifts this past Christmas. But with only $64 month, and no chance of earning anything myself, with the children to care for, how can I get my divorce? One lawyer told me it would cost $185, and another said $165. Sue Ann Dear Sue Ann: In my opinion, you surely have more than ample justification for divorcing your husband and freeing yourself so that might have a chance to find happiness with someone else. As for how the legal action can be financed, I see two possible ways. ARRANGE MATTERS SO YOU CAN WORK The first would be to find out 11 you cannot make some arrangements to have the children taken care of while you go to work.

There is hardly any town, today, that doesn't have a daytime nursery of some sort to care for. the children of working mothers. Perhaps, too, since your husband's parents are so sympathetic toward you, they might be persuaded to see the matter your way and give you some financial help. The other possibility is to seek help from the Legal Aid Society, 8 national organization with branches all over the country, which, in many types of legal difficulty, comes to the aid of those who cannot afford to engage a private lawyer. If you would like to have the address of the branch of this organization nearest you, so that you could get in touch with them and ask if your case is a type they would be willing to take on, send me a letter giving me your name and address and I will forward it to you.
