Mrs. Westbrook Elected Director Of YWCA Mrs. James S. Westbrook Sharps's road, Wynantskill, was elected a member of the board of directors of the Troy and Cohoes YWCAs at a meeting of the board in the Cohces building, 135 Mohawk this past weekend. Youth Jailed For Sassing Policeman Mrs.

The highlight of Ihe program, which was under the direction of Joel H. Dolven, professor of music at RPI, was a choral version and ice ballet of Tchaikovsky's "Nulcracker Suilc." This was the first performance of the work here since the Campus Carols of 1955. The combined Elmira Chorus and RPI Glee Club along with Ihe orcheslra on slage performed the celebrated Christmas suile while 29 figure skal- ers did a complicated and colorful interpretalion of Ihe "Over- lure, Dance of Ihe Sugar Plums," "Trepak," "Dance of the Toy Flules" and "Waltz of the Flowers." Starting the program, the 70- member glee club, directed by Mr. Dolven, sang French, German and English carols. Of par licular note were "Gesu Bambino" wilh barilone William Haller singing Ihe solo and the spiritual "Mary Had a Baby" in which tenor William Ealer sang solo.

Members of the Elmira Chorus, directed by Forrest Sanders, sang solos in "0 Holy Night." Later in Ihe show Ihe chorus and glee club did nine sections of Handel's "The Messiah" in- luding the string "Hallelujah Chorus." Not lo be lefl out, the audi- nce joined the ensemble in inging traditional carols and left the field house walls airly reverberaling wilh the hords of "Joy to the World." 4 Hurt In Latham Crash Serious injuries were sus- ained Saturday night by four! teen-agers, a Troy girl, the car in which they were struck a telephone booth, ower pole and parked vehicle 9 south of the Latham Traffic Circle. Burglars Steal $3,216 From Latham Store Burglars broke into a Latham Shopping Center store early yesterday morning and removed 53,216.45 in cash and checks, Colonie Police reported last night. Thieves entered Kay's Newport Shoe Store, in the east section of the shopping center, using a window to the women's rest roo-i.

They pried a quarter-inch steel bar from the brick housing around the sash and entered the one-story building on the south side. A cssh. register in the store proper was opened and S508.83 taken. Nothing else in the store lad been disturX'd, police dli- losed. The biiJfc of the loot was taken from the office of John 3rant, store mancger, who resides in Latham.

Two money bags were stolen 'rom a desk drawer in Grant's office. One contained $1,966,73 and the second 5740.89. Grant discovered Ihe unlaw- 'ul entry at a.m. yesterday when he went to the store to do some book work. Store personnel had closed up about 10 p.m.

Chuckrow, 51, of 187 Pinewoods president of Joseph Chuckrow Sons, of 41 River died of a heart attack Saturday evening while attending the Harvard-Williams College basketball game at Wil- iamstown, Mass. Chuckrow was slricken while sitting in the stands just Before the game was to begin. He was taken to North Adams, Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
