17, 1914, in Chapman community and was a lifelong resident of Henderson. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II and was a retired contractor for the Texas Highway Department and member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys W. Garrison; sons, Wayne Weaver and Jim Weaver; brother, Troy Garrison; sister, Essie Truelock; and grandson, Keith Weaver. Survivors include daughter, Mary Ann Zager, Longview; brother, Mike Garrison, Henderson; sisters, Linnie Ross and Ines Bridges, both of Henderson; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Thompson Memorial services for Bryan H.Thompson, 54, Tyler, are for 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 9, 1999, at Pleasant Retreat United Joseph N. Hamm Joseph Nicholas M.D., 83, Rapid City, S.D., brother of Dr. George Hamm of Tyler, died Oct.

2, in Rapid City. Mass of Christian burial was held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral with Father Michael Mulloy officiating. Arrangements were with Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, S.D. Hamm, a retired Rapid City physician, graduated from George Washington School of Medicine in June 1942.

He served in the Navy, 1942-1946, aboard the USS Samaritan. He practiced medicine in South Dakota and served as associate dean of the University of South Dakota Medical School, where he was instrumental in the establishment of its four-year medical degree program. Other survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hamm, Rapid City; sons, Joseph N. Hamm, Rapid City, and Robert M. Hamm M.D., Brownsville; two sisters, Mary Edwards, Austin, and Ann Driver, San Diego, and four grandchildren.

Herman Bickems Services for Herman Bickems, 82, Tyler, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at St. James CME Church with the Rev. Reginald Garrett officiating. Bunal will be in Evergreen Memorial Park under direction of Sterling Funeral Directors, Tyler.

Paul Quiggins officiating. Mr. Thompson died Sept. 18, 1999, at his residence in Tyler. He was born June23, 1945, in Troy, N.Y., and lived in Tyler most of his life.

He attended John Tyler High School, Louisiana State University and Harvard University. He was a landscape architect and environmental planner. He was a member of Tyler Native Plant Society, The Audubon Society, Natural Areas Preservation Association and Texas Committee on Natural Resources. He was preceded in death by Lawrence Thompson. Survivors include one son, Erik Thompson of Tyler; mother, Laura Thompson Miller of Tyler; one brother, Lawrence Thompson of Livermore, and two grandchildren, Foster and Hannah.

He was a retired teacher Dwayne Matthews PITTSBURG Graveside services for Dwayne Matthews, 47, Texarkana, formerly of Pittsburg, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Woodman Cemetery, DeKalb, with the Rev. Kenny Shelton officiating under direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home, Pittsburg.

Mr. Matthews died Oct. 2 in a Texarkana hospital. He was bom Sept. 30, 1952, in DeKalb.

He lived in Pittsburg before moving to Texarkana seven months ago. He was a trim and finish carpenter for Heritage Trailers, Texarkana, and a member of Coun ty Liine noiiness Lnurcn oi uetvaiD. He was preceded in death by his father, David Alfred Matthews. Mrs. Ellison died Oct. 6 at her residence. She was born May 12, 1917, in Mount Vernon and was a lifelong resident of Upshur County. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert Ellison in 1995; two brothers; one sister; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include sons, Jerry Ellison and Wendell Ellison, both of Latch community, Don Ellison, Hawkins, and Hilton Ellison, Chandler; daughter, Sioux Johnston, Gilmer; brothers, Q.T. Davis was born Aug. 9, 1940, in Athens. She lived in Murchison before moving to Tyler nine months ago. She was a home-maker and a Baptist. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she served as Altar Guild directress for many years. Actively involved in all activities of Trinity Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.

He was a captain in the U.S. Army serving in Korean War and retired from Unocal as regional drilling manager in 1 986. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Tyler. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lynna Dell Moore Browning of Houston; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. Jr.

and Paige Browning of Houston; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Lynn and Lucien Miranne of Metairie, brother-in-law, Henry Scoggins 6f Tyler; one sister, Louise McFarland of Gunter; sister-in-law, Ruth Browning of Van; grandchildren, Trey and Heather Miranne; special cousin, Nadine Dowdy; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
