the game Taking a punt on the 43 the Redmen covered the distance in eight plays with Quarterback Johnnie Allen a hometown boy from Tahlequah wedging over for the score A bullet pass (Allen to halfback fought desperately to hold off a last-ditch rally by St College for a 19 to 14 win and a trip to the Holiday Bowl The Redmen ranked No 1 in the nation by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) will meet Arizona State of Flagstaff on December 20 at St Petersburg Florida for the small-collage championship Arizona won its semi-final game Saturday with a 41 to 12 triumph over Gustavus Adolphus of Minnesota in a game played at Tucson Northeastern scored in the first four minutes of the game on a 16-yard pass from Halfback Dan Smith to End Charlie Moore and added touchdowns in the second and third quarter to take a 19-0 edge in the game that was to make them the fifth state college to earn a berth in a post-season bowl this season But after dominating the game through better than three periods the Redmen found themselves rocked back on their heels by the Ravens from Atchison Kansas who took charge and almost overtook the men from Tahlequah with a brilliant play but it didn't matter for Moore's grab netted NSC their first touchdown on the way to a 19-14 victory over the Ravens Saturday in the NAIA semi-final round playoff at Skelly Stadium in Tulsa The victory means a Holiday Bowl trip to Saint Petersburg Florida and a December 20 game with Arizona State of Flagstaff for the little college national championship Some 8000 fans watched the two unbeaten teams battle on a 31-degree day for the trip to sunny Florida yards on the last NSC tally to cap a 47-yard move The battle of unbeaten clubs was just as close as the final score And like the yards a few minutes iater for a score with some four minutes remaining in the contest Taking over on their own 22 St went the 78-yards in eight plays topped by a 16-yard jaunt by Fred Finder and a 34-yard sprint by Mohlman alert pass interception got the Ravens the ball again on the St Benedict's 26 and he ran it back to the NSC 48 pass to Allen Lewis was good for 15 yards and a first down on the 19 Mohlman went the distance on the next play and the score was 19-13 Flynn converted and It was 19-14 St had one more chance taking the ball on their own 32 with 1:10 left in the game Three passes went astray and a fourth-down all-or-nothing toss gained just nine yards nnd NSC took over with 40 seconds left Phelps twice simply took the snap and fell to the ground to eat up time There the 26-8 BOSTON (UPI) Sophomore quarterback Johnny Amabile scored once and passed for another in a three-touchdown second-quarter explosion Saturday to lead Boston College to a 20 8 upset win over Holy Cross The 5-7 Amabile performed brilliantly as a replacement for the injured Eagle passing ace Don Allard before a capacity crowd of 20000 and an eastern television audience Boston College capitalized early on the passes of vaunted Holy Cross Quarterback Tommy Greene intercepting three of his first four throws The Eagles converted two of the interceptions into touchdowns Greene's only first half completion was a 55-yard scoring strike to end Dave Stecchi in ths opening period for the only Holy Cross touchdown Amabile of Jersey City New Jersey registered the first Boston College touchdown on a three yard bootleg dash Into the end zone as the second quarter started his smooth fake handoff on the payoff play even confusing the referee His 31-yard pass to end John Flanagan set the stage for the second Eagle score which came when Amabile looped a basketball-type two-handed pass to Flanagan In the end zone for the last nine yards Boston College Captain George Larkin ran an Intercepted Greene pass back 20 yards to the Holy Cross 17 in the second period tJ set up the third score Fullback Jim Duggan bulled into the end zone from eight yards out to cap the second period scoring spree and give the hosts an 18-8 halftime lead Boston College marched 63 yards to the Holy Cross six before tho third period ended On the 'irst play of the final qarter halfback Alan Miller went off tackle to score With three and one-half minutes left to play the Boston College line Into the Holy Cross back-field to smother Greene In the end zone for a safety a billiard ball with backspin hopped back and abruptly came to rest only one ard from the double stripe Oregon's Dave GraysOn carried it out to the two on the next play But Poole and Daniel Coughlin caught Grosz behind the goal on the next play and that gave Miami its second win in a 10-game season Oregon Drive Oregon immediately launched a drive that carried from its own 43 to the Miami seven But there Len Read fumbled and Poole gobbled up the ball Miami punted out only to have Oregon drive right back to the 12 From there a field goal attempt by John Clarke was no good Oregon tried one more desperation field goal In the last seconds Miami like Oregon had a frustrating day at the goal line and was stopped oidrives that carried to the eight and the 14 It was sixth defeat against four wins But failure to move the hall across tlie goal gave the Webfoots the national title in defense against MIAMI (UPI) Fran only punt of the year took a freakish bounce at the Oregon goal died on the ore-yard line and set up the safety that gave Miami a sweet 2-0 victory Saturday at the end of a bitter season Hurricane end Bill Poole helped tackle Dave Grosz for the safety and also pounced on a fumble at the Miami seven to stop an Oregon threat Oregon whose home fans 3500 miles away were watching on nationwide television penetrated to the Miami seven twice and also had two plays that crossed the goal voided by penalties Sun-Filled Bowl There were 22898 fans in the sun-filled Orange Bowl for a game that looked more like jacks than football as both teams picked up the frequent fumbles through the scoreless first half But Curci who made a single punt all season found himself in a kicking situation in the third period without Ills punter With the ball on the Oregon 40 the tiny quarterback coolly booted it The punt was a good one so good it almost sailed over the goal But the football acting more like defeated the Baltimore Colts 30-28 hi Memorial Coliseum The huge crowd second 100000 plus assemblage to see the Rams in action here this season was treated to a great offensive show which was nationally televised Actually the game meant nothing because the Colts had already sewed up the Western division title in the National Football League nnd the best the Rams could hope for was to break a second-place tie with the Chicago Bears Two weeks ago the Colts wrecked any chance the Rams had for the title Left end Del Shofner turned In two brilliant runs on passes from Billy Wade one for 63 yards that set up the first Los Angeles touch down The other was a spectacular 69-yard romp for a touchdown that ended the scoring Johnny Unltas great Porter Juniors Cop Basketball Titles PORTER Porter won both boys and girls championships in the junior high school basketball tourney here Saturday The boys beat Chouteau 22-19 in the finals and the girls won 33-18 over Fort Gibson lie went into the game with only four Interceptions against him all season but the Rams intercepted three and returned two for touch downs Linebacker Dick Daugherty grabbed one Unltas toss that was blocked and barged 12 yards Defensive halfback Jack Morris stole another and raced 44 yards down the side line in front of the Baltimore bench for the other TD The Gino Marchettl recovered a Wade fumble on the Ram 29 and Unltas soon hit end Ray Berry from three yards out for their first touchdown Before the first quarter ended Unitas steered his team 62 yards in 12 plays and his five-yard throw to Lenny Moore produced another touchdown The final Unitas scoring pass rifled 22 yards to Jim Mutscheller in the closing minutes of the game finish Baltimore 14 0 7 7-20- Los Anxeles 3 13 7 Wagoner Lincoln Puts Two On All-Star Team WATTS (Special) Watts High School winner of the 13-C District by victories over Copan and Lincoln Wagoner placed five representatives on the All-District team Copan came in second placing four on the team and Lincoln filling the other position with two very fine ball players even though they had to settle for last place in the District This is the first time District 13-C has selected an All-District team It is represented by boys who can play both offense and defense The team has eight
