The Postofflce Department has been notified of the death of Mr. William II. Wallace, postmaster at Hammondsville, Ohio, which occur- rpd on Fridav last. Mr.

Wallace -t was distinguished as being the' oldest postmaster in the United States, both in age and in point of service. He was eighty six years of age, anil was fir appointed postmaster by Andrew Jackson iu 1830. Mr. Wallace established three postoffice, in Ohio, among them being that of Han.mondsville, where he served foi ty years as postmaster. He was noted for his collectiou of autographs and pictures of prominent men, and a few days before his death wrote to the Postmaster Uen-eral for his signature and likeness.

In the husk they are surer and better crop than Cleaned Seed.
