8 at Caesars Palace," Don King, Tyson's promoter said Wednesday after clos ine a deal with Dan Duva, Holy-field's promoter. "He had to do it," said Shelly Fink- el, Holyfield's manager. "Once it lost Foreman, where was he going?" King, who has said "we don't need Holyfield," made a major effort to match Tyson and Foreman, the 42-year-old folk hero, but as of Tuesday it appeared Holyfield would fill the Nov. 8 date with a rematch against Foreman, who he outpointed over 12 rounds on April 19. "We had it (Holyfield-Foreman)," Finkel said.

"If thev hadn't contacted us yesterday, the deal was done." Jose Sulaiman, president of the World Boxing Council, contacted Duva Tuesday, saying that King wanted to meet him, according to Duva, King and Duva met Wednesday at the New York office of King's attorney, Robert Hirth. "Fine" Holfyfield told Finkel. when advised that the fight had been made. It summed up the feelings of most fight fans. Part of the deal, Finkel said, was for "the winner to make a good-faith deal to fight Foreman." "Dan will promote in association with Don King," Finkekaid.

The. WBC ruled that the split should be 60-40, but Duva went to court and blocked the organization from holding a purse bid. The International Boxing Federation, whose turn it is to supervise a heavyweight title fight, held purse bids June 11, and Duva topped eight other bidders with an offer of $51,101,000, of which Holyfield would have gotten, 75 percent, or $38,325,750. Duva's Main Events monitor had deposited $10.2 million in the United National Bank of Plainfield (N.J.) as the 20 percent escrow amount required under IBF rules. Under the agreement, reached Wednesday, the guarantees are two- thirds to one-third.

King refused to accept the IBF purse Jbids, saying he and Tyson refused to recognize the organization because of its ties to South African fighters. Earlier Wednesday, the IBF dropped Tyson from No. 1 to No. 5 in FIGHT Page 3, Section 3 -UPI KEm Lands Cowboys Broadcasts By PHIL HICKS Sports Editor Dallas Cowboys fans can relax every Cowboys game will be available on TV this coming season after an announcement by KETK Region 56 presidentgeneral manager Philip H. Hurley Wednesday.

An exclusive agreement with CBS Television will make KETK-TV (channel 10, Tyler, Longview, Jacksonville) and its new station KLSB-TV (Nacogdoches-Lufkin)-the stations for NFC and Dallas Cowboys football in 1991 for the East Texas area. 1 In making the announcment, Hurley said negotiations were completed late Tuesday that will give both stations all 12 of the Cowboys' games broadcast by CBS. It also includes all playoff games in the NFC and, the Super Bowl. The two stations, which are NBC affiliates, already had the other two Dallas games scheduled for NBC broadcasts (Oct. 13 Cincinnati at Dallas and Nov.

28 Pittsburgh at Dallas). The remaining two fowboys' games will be broadcast on KLTV (channel 7, Tyler-Longview) and TNT (channel 20. KLTV will show the Sept. 9 game, Washington at Dallas, and TNT will broadcast Dallas at Phoenix Sept. 22.

After KLMG (channel 12 Long-view-Tyler) changed from a CBS affiliate to KFXK, a Fox-TV affiliate, East Texas Cowboys fans were in danger of not receiving all the Cowboys' games. The CBS station in Dallas (KDFW channel 4) carries the Cowboys' games, but home games are subject to blackout if they do not sell out. Thus; if Texas Stadium did not sell out then the Cowboys' game could not be picked up as the game in East Texas. "We saw a void in the Cowboys coverage and it is such a good market for Cowboys fans we wanted to see what we could dp," said Hurley, resident of Lone Star Broadcasting, nc. Along with a new head football coach and staff, JT will have a new head volleyball coach, junior varsity girls basketball coach and swimming coordinator. Robert Lee will have three new faces on the coaching staff and there are five new coaches at the middle school level.

Also, several current coaches will be taking on new assignments. Perhaps the most notable change within the athletic department will involve the high school swimming teams.
