GenevaNational J-jUNTQJUB According to actuarial tables, the chance of becoming disabled for a period of three months or longer at least once between the ages of 35 and 65 is 70 for men and 40 for women. You can protect yourself against these odds by obtaining adequate disability insurance. When buying a disability policy, consider these points: 1 Premiums.

Whatever options you choose in your policy, make sure your premiums are noncancellable and guaranteed renewable. That is, they cannot be raised above the levels in the policy at the time you bought it, and the policy cannot be cancelled unless you stop paying the premiums. 2. Disability Good policies define disability" as being unable to perf orm the essential tasks of your current occupation. Under lower quality (but less expensive) policies, youll be considered disabled if you're unable to perform the essential tasks of any occupation for which you're qualified.

3. Elimination period. This is the period from the day you become disabled until you begin to receive insurance payments (usually 90 days). The shorter the elimination period, the higher the premium, in selecting the right period, consider other sources of temporary income, such as sick leave, your employers insurance policy, and workers' compensation. 4.

Residual benefits. Residual" policies pay you even though you're only partially disabled. For example, if you become able to work only 25 of normal, youll still receive 75 coverage. Total disability policies, however, will pay you only if you're completely disabled. 5.

Length of coverage. Some plans pay you over a given period of time of disability (usually 2 to 5 years). More costly policies, however, pay to age 65 or beyond. Finally, shop around to find the best disability coverage for your needs and your budget. There is no cost for your initial consultation.

But now we are down to (decision) Day. I know you have your calendar marked OcL 16. If you need a ride call me at 279-6249, but be patient as the response of people surging to get to the polls to vote "No" will be overwhelming.

The right to vote is something a lot of people gave their lives for. Don't be intimidated. That's what the voting booth is all about. No one will take your name off this list and badger you, sometimes anonymously. So until the victory party, I remain Respectfully Charles D.

On Racetrack To the Editor: Awhile back, Jerry and I were putting up some large signs around town. Youve seen them, the ones about voting yes for the racetrack. The day was warm and the ground was hard. The two old guys werent as persuasive with the shovels as they once were.

There were honks of encouragement from the passing cars. But the ground was still hard and those dam mosquitoes were drawn to the sweat A school bus stopped in the street to discharge one of its' cargo. There was a spontaneous chorus of "Yes Racetrack" from the other kids on the bus. They yelled it over and over with enthusiasm. We waved acknowledgement to them and smiled to each other.

The moment reminded me of a letter that was sent to our citizens last spring. The letter spoke of how our children will possibly identify with the racetrack being a part of their town, not somebody else's town again. And Mario is still coming. The kids know. Jim Bruce To.

Victory Day To the Editor To my dear friends in Genoa City, we are at the start of a long line of victories that will begin next Tuesday, Oct 16 and then continue on to Nov. 6 Victory Day. With the decision of the State Elections Board Wednesday, OcL 3, it proves more than ever what we have been saying all along. All these have made a sham of the judicial system.
