Eye-catching lights By Shaun Jacobsen Grand Geneva Resort and Spa recently celebrated its ninth annual Christmas in the Cfountry celebration. The Christmas in the Country lighting display has more than 500,000 lights. As you enter, the 12 days of Christmas are displayed in brightly colored lights.

New displays this year included jumping gingerbread men and flying reindeer. Some older but just as cool displays are Santa golfing, the 12 Days of Christmas, and the changing-color water fountain. The ceremony, held on Nov. 23, included a presentation about Grand Geneva, drinks and holiday treats, gingerbread house displays, live music and fireworks. The Make-A-Wish Foundation once again supported the event. The Wish Child was given the honor of flipping the switches to turn on the lights. The lights are spectacular. At the track we have motocross every Friday night and Sunday mornings. Every May, June, July, August and September our open riding starts. Resort offers two courses By Robert Johnson Grand Geneva is a golf, ski, and spa resort, which is one of the many reasons why tourists come to visit Lake Geneva. The golf courses are one of the main attractions for golfers who just love the game. Approximately 45,000 people come to play at the two great golf courses, and also about 25,000 people just come to look around or maybe have lunch.

Opening on April 1 and closing in mid-November, the courses also attract many professional athletes from the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cubs, and visiting teams. This year the celebration will be held Feb. 4 to 8 at the Riviera in the heart of downtown Lake Geneva. Sculptures, will be created Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
