Class Play To Be Presented Monday Night (Continued From Page 1) the memory of Grandfather Mc-Murray, It sounds dreadful messy manual labor, I suppose.

Well, the nearest that any member of the Lansdale family ever came to that was to lift the gavel on the bench of the Supreme Court. Among many causes of friction there is an argument over a name for the six-weeks -old baby. Aunt Deborah announces that she and the babys father, Philip (Everett Boutelle), have decided to call the child Vivien St. Clair. Angered, Ellen insists hotly that she is going to name her own child herself Joshua McMurray, for his greatgrandfather.

Both of these names amuse Ellens friends, Beatrice Bardin (Mardelle Lenon) and Bob Scott, her fiance (Robert Fitzpatrick), who drop In one afternoon to tell about plans for a Fourth of July celebration, an annual village event. Bob, who Is studying medicine to take up the practice of his father, (Adam Rome), family physician for years to the McMurrays, delivers ice during the summer. He candidly states that he expects to win the Handsomest Ice Mans contest. And the Nurse That same evening, Ellen, who as usual is denied the privilege of putting her baby to bed, refuses to play bridge with Philip, Aunt Deborah and Miss Griswold, the super-antiseptic nurse (Norma ONeill), declares that the only proper way to bring up babies is to separate them entirely from their parents. Injury is piled upon injury for Ellen.

Miss Quick (Frances Schryver), local librarian, a gossipy pest, intimates that Mc-Murraysville, never having been permitted to see the McMurray infant, believes him to be defective; Philip has thoroughly assumed El-len would meekly sign over her third interest in the iron works in order that he might sell out and thus be able to move east to a large city, where his aunt prefers to live; and Philip has also sneered at the idea of going to the town hall meeting where plans are to be made for the big celebration. Hurt and angry, Ellen goes alone to the meeting and three hours later returns with her friends, Bee and Bob. As he had predicted, Bob was elected Handsomest Ice Man to -rule over the forthcoming carnival. Miss Lansdale grows sarcastic: Im more than flattered to be entertaining royalty. So you are to be a king Well, well And, who, may I ask, is to be queen? To her and Phil-j ips immense astonishment Ellen, displaying a ribbon labeled Miss McMurraysville, says defiantly: I Goaded beyond endurance, Ellen leaves home to stay for two weeks with Bee.

Aunt Deborah dismisses old Dr. Scott and in his place engages Dr. Topping-Sill (Alvin West), a conceited, flashy young physician posing as a child-specialist. And Even Twins On the night of the Fourth Philip is remorseful over having permitted his aunt to usurp Ellens place. He listens wistfully to the enthusiastic accounts given by Libby, the servant (Helen Anderson), of the afternoons parade in which Ellen appeared on a float.

Ellen, he learns, has had daily secret reports from Libby about the baby, who tonight seems fretful. In the midst of Philips con-cern over the babys condition, Aunt Deborah receives a special delivery letter frofti Philips cousins, the Van Dusens, who announce the birth of twins. Before Aunt Deborah has quite decided to sally forth to the twins to see that they get proper care, Miss Griswold reports that the McMurray infant is suffering from acute colic. Dr. Topping-SUl, at the grand ball, is too muqh submerged in a good time to go out on a call.

This Libby learns by phoning his nurse. Dr. Scott is summoned to take charge again, this time with the help of the favorite practical nurse of the village, Aunt Abbie Green, colored (Marita Butts). Libby comes to the rescue, too, with a can of mustard and a dish pan. All this, of course.

Is too much for the two dragoriS, Aunt Deborah and Miss Griswold: they both declare they leaving and no one tries to dissuade them. Ellen, brought home from the dance by kindly Dr. Scott, is hap-V of Geo Kenning, 'Son of Former Resident Honored at St. Mary9s College George Kenning, son of Mr. and Mrs.
