The Cain Ho Stable's Flying Fury was second with Albert J. Mesler's Rock Co tage third in the field of eight. Bill Boland put War'Command on the lead after the start on the backstretch, while Thinking Cap came right along in second place about a length behind. They swept into the backstretch with War Command a half a length in front and Flying Fury moved up to third-under Dave urging. Heading into the far turn, War Command and Thinking Cap were head and head, when midway around, Thinking Cap began to draw clear.

The colt, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lunger of Wilmington, wasn't menaced in the run for home. War Command had shot his bolt, and finished last. His time was 3:02 4-5, compared with the track record of 2:55 made in 1928 by Reigh Count.

Second Choice in the mutuels, Thinking Cap returned $9.50, $6.20 and $3.40, while Flying Fury paid $7.60 and $3.90 to place and Rock Cottage $2.80 to show.
