Mrs. Althea Perry reported on the annual sewing contesl sponsored by the N.Y.S. Federation of Women's Clubs, in co. operation with the Sears Roebuck Foundation. Wearing apparel made by the school girls will be modeled at the March meeting.

The club voted to give a $5 prize to the winning stu. dent. Mrs. Inez Palmer introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Mark Branson of Hebron.

Using her maiden name, Jean Rikholf, for her writing, she is currently working on a long novel, set in the Glens Falls area. In April a biography of Ro'bert E. Lee, for children, will be released. She discussed the reasons why authors write and how they develop a story, citing books and their authors, as well as "best lellers" and great books. Questions were answered regarding ideas, research, lime required from rough draft to publication and Mrs.

JAR 4 CHICKEN-OF-THE-SEA TUNA 4 1 Refresher Course Set For Nurses The Fifth Refresher Course tor inactive registered nurses who wish to return to their profession will open Monday, March 11, at Memorial Hospital in Albany. The eight-week program will be held March 11 through April 1, Mondays through Thursdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Classes will not be held during Easter vacation, but will resume April 22 through May 13. The course includes class, room and clinical experience lecture by doctors and hospital personnel and demonstrations of more advanced equipment used in special units.

Information on the course ay be obtained through In- Service Supervisors, Miss Clovys Towne or Mrs. Thelma Gardner, at the hospital. Gas Explosion Danger Ends At Hagerstown HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -A tank truck which had leaked propane gas through the night in a residential area was hauled out of the city yesterday. "It has been cleared and the danger is 3ast," said Hagerstown city police.

About 2,500 persons evacuated in a six-block area Tues- lay night, when the truck rup- ured, were permitted to return to their homes yesterday. They spent the night at City Hall, a movie theater, a bus station and an armory. City Police Capt. 3rayson Doannberher said the ank ruptured and began leak- ng gas and vapors soon after the accident. KENNETH RUSSO Fraternities To Sponsor Blood Drive The HPI Intel-fraternity Conn cil will sponsor a blood drive next Monday and Tuesday in Lounge 15, loth Street, on the campus in conjunction with a visit by the Red Cross Bloodmobile from noon to 6 p.m.

Kenneth Russo of Wcstfield, N.Y., a sophomore who is a School of Science major, is chairman of the project. The IFC is conducting the drive as part of its community social projects. All blood colleted wll be used in Troy Area hospitals. Permission slips for those under the age of 21 and registration cards are now available al main desk of the Rensselaer Student Union. The council, which comprises 27 national and one local fraternity, represents about 1,700 members.

Johnstown Hearing Stops Trial The February trial term of Supreme Court for Rensselaer County was interrupted yesterday to permit the two presiding judges to go to Johnstown to hear another case. Justices John II. Pcnnock and DeForest C. Pill were members of a three-judge panel assigned by the Appellate Division to hear an annexation dispute at the Fulton County Courthouse. The panel, which also included Justice Robert 0.
