4 LEWIS COUNTY JOURNAL September 20. 1921 AHR-MEIRERANT Lucian H. Lahr and Miss Emma Louise Meierant, well known young people of the community, were united in matrimony by Rev. Herman Heidbreder at the Lutheran parsonage at 7:30 o'clock Wednes day evening. Their attendants were Miss Ellen Lahr, a sister of the groom and Rufus Gnuse.

Following the ceremony a wedding supper was served to the bridal party and the mem-1 bers of the immediate families at the bride's home. The bride, a quiet, home-loving young woman, is the younger daugyter of Mr. and Mrs. F. H.

Meierant of this city. The bride groom is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lahr of this vicinity. He is an energetic young farmer and was in the service during the late war.

Both young people come from respected families and stand well in the community Mr. and Mrs. Lahr will go to housekeeping in the home of John T. Bower, west of town, whose right hand man the bridegroom has been for several years -LaGrange Indicator. Will Make his Home Here Gustaf Oberhocamp, young German from Herford, Westphal- ia, Germany arrived Sunday night to make his home for the present with his uncle, Herman Spilker.

He left Hamburg August 2 20 and came directly to LaGrange, passing his 21st birthday September 2 while on the ocean. He was on the water ten days. He made the trip on a repaid ticket from Hamburg co L. Grange sent him by Mr. Spill- r.

The trip across to SW ork cost $125 and from wY kt Lagrange $46.96. Young Oberhocamp lest one brother killed in the war. Another brother went thru unscath ed. He had not been called into actual service, himself, when the war ended. He reports food and working conditions in the old country al little better than they were bu' still hard for large families ar.d for widows especially.

Rev. Gross failed to fill his appointment here Sunday as he is engaged in a revival meeting near Memphis, Mo. and will preach here the first Sunday in October instead. Mesdames Wm. Graves, Katie Boyle and Mrs.

Wm. Breen were shopping in Ewing Saturday afternoon. Willa Chance spent Sunday with Mildred Smith. J. A.

Smith was a business visitor in Ewing Saturday. Esq. Hotchkisswas assessing Highland township the past week, Rev. A. D.

Veatch of Des Moines Ia. came Tuesday for a few days visit with his father, J. R. Veatch. Frank Boyle was a business visitor in Lewistown Friday.

John Richardson and Wm. Breen Jr. hauled cane to Rightmire's at Monticello Friday. Rev. A.

D. Veatch spent Thursday with his brother, E. G. Veatch and family. Davil Musser and wife spent Sunday with Wm.

Graves and family. Wm. Turner called on J. A. Smith and family Sunday afternoon.

John Stokley and son, Leo attended the funeral of Tom Briscoe in Lewistown Sunday. GILEAD The HelpingHand club member were entertained Thursday at the home of Albert Anderson and wife. All menbers present but two. A most enjoyable day was spent and an excellent dinner was served. We had for visitors Mesdames Chas.

Shires and Wilbur Brown. Mrs. Sublett and daughter. Viola spent Tuesday with Mrs. Wilbur Wallace.

A. Turner, wife and son, John visited Sunday with F. E. Brookharts of Neeper. Chas.

Mensendick filled his silo the past week. Lovelace Lillard and family, Wilbur Wallace and wife, Howard Watson and family, Miss Aldyth Clemme, P. W. Sublett, wife and daughter, Miss Viola visited with E. C.

Turner and family Sunday. C. V. Day and family were afternoon visitors. Several of this community attended the revival meeting ili Ewing the past week.

Another heavy rain fell here Monday morning. Frank Crabill and family and John Drescher attended the Palmyra fair. Mat Glaves of California, Mesdames H. B. Garnett, Wilbur Wallace and Will Wakefield and wife and Mrs.

Mary Wallace were guests of John Wallace and wife Friday. Miss Viola Sublett and Ray B. Fisher attended the party at Miss Jean Dedrick's Friday night. The H. H.

club members entertained their husbands Saturday night to ice cream and cake. All met at the home of Yates Lillard and wife. A jolly good time was had. CENTENAK1 Sam Legg and wife spent Sunday with Thaddeus Clark and wife. Rev.

Holland spent Sunday night with Thaddeus Clark and wife. Geo. Robinson spent Friday with Mrs Is. F. Marks of Canton.

Columbus Clark visited a few days with Halsey Hardin and wife and called to see James Hardin and family. Geo. Gruber and wife spent Sunday with Jet Clark and family. D. T.

F. G. Risk and son, Ed and Misses MaryRisk and Fannie Hahn We are glad to report Mrs. J.G.Hahn able to attend church Sunday. Bige Johnson and little daughter attended church at Centenary Sunday morning.

Nall of Lewistown visited with his brother, John and family Friday. Miss Bertha Baurrichter who is at. tending school in Lewistown spent the weekend with her aunt, Mrs. Fred Schlunz. Olen Selves, wife and little daughter were Friday afternoon callers at the Harvey Keller home.

Clarence Shires and family near Dover were Sunday visitors with Floyd Cox and family. Bud Waiters and wife, E. W. Fisher, wife and son, Ray'were Sunday visitors with Miles Bywaters and family near Nelsonville. They report Mrs.

Bywaters about the same. Vera Wallace spent Sunday with Juanita Moore. Marion Stephenson and wife entertained the following Sunday at dinner, JamesStephenson, wife and son, Givens and wife of near Ten Mile and Alex Stephenson and family near Gilead. Will Keller and wife were Sunday afternoon callers with John Nall and wife. A family reunion and dinner were enjoyed at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Guy Bowles Sunday. The parents Mr. and Mrs. Watt Briscoe and all the children except Guy and all the grand-children except one of Guy's schs were present.

Surprise for Gilbert Veatch A surprise was given Gilbert Veatch Sunday on the occasion of his birthday. He had said he could not be surprised, but when about 40 relatives and went in on him Sunday, he admitted his mistake. All took well-filled baskets and a teous feast was spread. Among the guests were Charles Vincent wife and two sons of Montana, who are visiting relatives in Lewis County.
