The senior Doctor Christie was a distinguished surgeon in the Confederate aervico. aoquired a high reputation in Tewis and adjacent counties for his medioal skill while his son was a youth. Later when tins son graduated from the medical sohool of the University of Pennsylvania and came west Dr.

Christie removed to Quin-cy and he and his son practiced medicine together. This was in 1888 and since then Dr. R. J. Christie had identified with Quinoy and had been a leader in every uplift movement.

His reputation and skill as a physician and surgeon brought him patients sufficient to keep most men busy but he worked fully as hard in performing oivie duties in tho last 20 years as he worked in his profession. He was a leading member of the oivio improvement league, and the head of the sanitary committee of the Welfare association. Vt Christie leaves a widow and four children in his immediate family. He was married to Miss Leila Turner, daughter of 0. A.

Turner, about 14 years ago. Their children are Robert, James, Elizabeth, John and Donald and their ages are from 13 to 4 years. Love of home and devotion to family were characteristics as marked in Dr. Christio as was his love of his profession. All the time he could spare from a busy professional and publio life was given to the home in 234 South Sixteenth street.

i children were his playfellows and between he and his oevoted wife was an understanding that inspired him to 'accomplish the able work that endeared him to the physicians of Quincy and hundreds of friends and acquaintances In addition to the member ot family mentioned Dr. Christie leaves a brother Cassius W. Christie of Hollywood, and four sisters. They are Mrs. Elizbeth Cotton, Mrs.
