occurring on the evening of May 23 Miss Gregg formerly lived here being the daughter of Fred II Gregg Mrs Georgia Jarnagin Chabble of Knoxville is visiting friends in the city She is practicing with the members who are to take part in the cantata Queen Esther Mrs Chabble will take the part of the Queen Mrs John Glenn of Newport visited her father Harvey Loop on West 2nd North street last week Miss Thompson and the Ninth Grade entertained the Tenth Grade at the home of the class president Keith Rice on Friday evening May 10th Currie Thompson will leave today for New York City where he will spend some days on Wall street Col Cain McCanless Rufus Ilickey John Helms and Col Sam Jack of Whitesburg are in Nashville attending the Democratic Convention which meets to-day the 15th Dr Shields and Mrs Geo Taylor accompanied Miss Kate Shields Philadelphia Pa Saturday where Miss Shields will undergo an operation the German Hospital Hon John Holloway and Senter Esq are attending the Republican State Convention in Nashville Mrs Frank Whiteside and Mrs Joe Hunter of Alpha spent last Wednesday in the city McGimpsey has gone to Hot Springs to seek relief from rhenmation Miss Margaret Petty presence will be greatly missed in this city DIED Rev A Wilson mention whom was made in the last issue The Gazette died at his home in Dodd City Texas May 6 from the effects of a fall A suitable tribute to iis memory will be printed next week The remains of Mrs John Tate were brought to Morristown last Friday morning and interred in the city cemetery after a short funeral service at the grave conducted by Dr McConnell Mrs Tate died at her home in Tullahoma Tenn May 8 after an illness of several months Her death caused sadness in the hearts of her relatives and friends in Morristown and vicinty She was Miss Belle Dickinson before her marriage to Mr Tate a merchant at that time of this city and was a popular young lady raised and educated here being daughter of John Dickinson pioneer citizen and prominent hotel keeper of Morristown thirty years ago Mr and Mrs Tate left Morristown few years after their marriage living at Rockwood for several years and since at 'Tullahoma Mrs Tate is survived by her husband and a son and daughter who accompanied the remains here for burial She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and her pure helpful cheerful life characterized her as a good woman one who will be missed in the walks of life and whose place cannot be filled in the circle of the sorrow-strieken family Rev Southerland of Greeneville preached a very interesting sermon at White Oak Sunday Mr and Mrs Jim Day spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Joe Grahons Miss Cora Shanks of spent Monday night with her brother Fred Shanks Mr and Mrs Andy Busier visited Mr and Mrs Ben Beckner next year in Bristol At the meeting just closed in Chattanooga the following officers were elected president Mrs Perry 1st vice president Mrs' A Jackson 2nd vice president Mrs Gaines Harrell 3d vice president Mrs Alice Chapman 4th vice president Mrs Cobb Married in Oklahoma A wedding of much interest to the relatives and friends was that of John Richardson Jr and Miss Myrtle Barrett which occurred at Lawton Oklahoma May 6th The bride is an attractive and winsome young lady of Lawton and a member of a prominent Oklahoma family Mr Richardson is a young man of much promise the business world He has been associated for some time with his father Mr John Richardson in the wholesale livestock business having his headquarters at Norfolk Va- His home for many years was in Morristown where he was educated and where he formed many pleasant a sociates and friends all of whom join in congratulations and best wishes for him and his fair young bride There are people in this town who
