Varriale. 68, of 183 Francis Troy, a retired senior examiner for State Department of Labor, will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from Leahy Funeral Home, 336 3rd Troy, and at 9:30 a.m.

from St. Joseph's Church. Mr. Varriale. a native of Brooklyn, died Wednesday at Samaritan Hospital, after a brief illness.

He had resided in the Troy area since 1936. Mr. Varriale had been employed by the state for 38 years, retiring last April. He was a former member of the Troy Knights of Columbus and communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

Day, 60. of 45 Frost Place, "Albany, president of Albany Typographical Union No. 4. native" of Albany and World War II veteran, died Thursday evening at Albany Medical Center, after being stricken in a taxi in front of his home. Mr.

Day had been involved in labor since 1936, when he entered the printing trade. He was employed by Williams Press, in Menands. and Boyd Printing Albany, prior to his election to the fulltime post as a union executive in Aug. 1964. Mr.

Day was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Albany. Survivors include his wife, the former Frances M. Purcell: a son, John F. Day of Albany; a daughter. Eileen E.

Church, decorated in World War II GRAFTON The funeral of Paul L. Church, 53, of Cranberry Road, Grafton, decorated veteran of World War II and retired Watervliet Arsenal employe, will be Monday at a time to be announced from McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Green Island.

Mr. Church died Wednesday at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine, after a long illness. A native of Cambridge, Mr. Church had resided in Grafton for 30 years.

He had served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre, during World War II. and received the Silver Star Citation and Purple Heart. He had been employed at the arsenal for 26 years and retired a year ago, due to illness. He was a member of Grafton Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, the former Teresa Corbett; two daughters. Mrs. William F. Staples of Cohoes and Pvt. l.C.

Janice T. Church, U.S. Army, Aberdeen, two sons, Paul L. Church U.S. Navy, Jacksonville, and John C.

Margaret Silver of Bennington BENNINGTON, Vt. Mrs. Margaret Silver, 73, of 201 Branch Bennington, widow of former Village Police Chief Edward L. Silver, died this morning at Putnam Memorial Hospital, Bennington, after a long illness. Born in Bennington, Mrs.

Silver was the daughter of the late Patrick and Honora Moore Kearns. She was educated in ihe community. Her husband, who had served several years as Bennington village police chief died on Nov. 19, 1966. Mrs.

Silver had been employed for many years at the former H. E. Bradford in Bennington. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ann Maynard and two sons, Edward F.

and Francis J. Silver, all of Bennington; a sister. Mrs. Alice Swasey of Troy; 12 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m.

Mrs. O'Grady resided in Troy until 10 years ago when she moved to Miami. A past president of the Lt. Joseph P. F.

English Auxiliary, Army Navy Union, Mrs. O'Grady also served in that capacity in the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Division 1, and was a member-of Trojan Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Troy. Survivors include five sons, James F. O'Grady of San Diego, Stanley Frank G.

Mrs. Dorothy S. Glover, 89, of Shaker Boulevard, Enfield, died Thursday at Alice Peck Day Hospital after a short illness. She was the mother of Mrs. Florence Shelnutt Johnson formerly of Troy.

Born in Henley On Arden, England, she was the daughter of Samuel and, Ellen Mann Snell. At age 17 she taught at an English boys' boarding school and was also a registered nurse, a surgical eye nurse, a medical social worker, and a pioneer in the prevention of blindness. Mrs. Glover was the director of an orphanage and a school lor the blind for pre-school children. She was the widow of Calvin S.

Glover. Survivors, in addition to Mrs. Johnson, include a son, Joseph Murphy of Columbus. a stepdaughter Mrs. (Catherine G.

ALVED1STON, England (API Former Prime Minister Anthony Eden died peacefully in his sleep this morning at his country home in southern England after a long illness, his doctor announced.

He was 79. Eden, a successful foreign minister who failed as prime minister when he joined France in the abortive Suez invasion in 1956, was flown home from Florida last weekend when it became apparent that death was near. His doctor said he was suffering from progressive liver failure. One London newspaper reported he had had cancer ol the lung and bone for a year and it had spread to the liver. The suave, aristocratic statesman i i Chamberlain's cabinet to protest a a i appeasement of Mussolini and Hitler, was a brave soldier in World War a member of the House of Commons for 34 years, a brilliant diplomat before, during and after World War II.

The British Press Association in its obituary commented that the tragedy of Eden's political career was that it remains identified with the failure of the 1956 Suez adventure. Lyons' funeral COHOES The funeral of Helen A. Lyons of RD 1, Saratoga Springs, former Cohoes resident, was held Thursday from Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Cohoes, and St. Bernard's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial -was offered by Rev. Lawrence G. McTavey, pastor.

Bearers were Mark and Kirk Ringer, Edwin and James Stevens and John and Paul Kilventon. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford, with Father McTavey officiating. Mr. Sicilian'o's funeral MECHANICVILLE The funeral of Eugene Siciliano of 43 Saratoga Mechanicville, was held Wednesday from Fantauzzi Funeral Home, Mechanicville, and Church of the Assumption where a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was offered by Rev.

TERRY FAMILY ANTHONY EDEN Eden, who was elevated to the peerage as Earl of Avon in 1961, became gravely ill while spending the winter at the Florida home of American diplomat Averell Harriman, and a Royal Air Force plane equipped as a flying hospital was sent from London to bring him and his wife home.

"Lord A was an a Englishman." a close friend said. "He had told his family that if he looked like he were dying they must do all they could to see he died in Britain." He is survived by his second wife. Clarissa, a niece of Sir Winston Churchill, whom he married in 1952, and one son by his first marriage, Viscount Eden, 46, who succeeds to his title. His first wife, whom he divorced in 1950, died of cancer of the liver in 1957, and their elder son was killed in World War II. Born June 12, 1897, Robert Anthony Eden was a baronet's younger son whose ancestors included a governor of colonial Maryland.

He went to France as a soldier of 18, survived World War I as the youngest brigade major in the British army, won the Military Cross and lost two of his brothers on the battlefields. Daoud's release defended by France PARIS (AP) Prime Minister Raymond Barre says the widely condemned release of Palestinian guerrilla leader Abu Daoud was a matter of law, not politics, and did not violate France's extradition agreements with Israel and West Germany. Barre in an interview with Agence France Press, the French news agency, asserted that France "applied the domestic law and the international conventions which bind it" when the alleged commander of the attack on the Israeli team at the Munich Olympics was rushed out of the country on Tuesday.
