Hood Count) NewsTuesday, April 6, 2004 7A Y7 '-o i- SOUND OFF From Page 6A be Republicans. DTo the person who wrote in the March 23rd edition, "If their the person trying outft for tunities to participate in the political process. BJeers to the person complaining about city hall. During the recent construction of a new building I received nothing but encouragement, good advice, and assistance in the interpretation of the city's standards from the staff at city hall and other city departments. Demonstrate your willingness to abide by the rules and you will receive the same.

BCheers to teachers at Mambrino School. Especially the following teachers Mrs. Reed, Mrs. McNeely, Mrs. Brawner, Mrs.

Askew, and last but not least Mrs. Willingham. BOn February 29 HC News sent a photographer to cover the dedication of our new church building. A milestone in our nearly 20 year history in Granbury. Sadly, to date you have chosen not to publish the story or the photographs.

Obviously, this a major disappointment to all of us. BWhen everyone goes to see the Alamo next weekend keep in mind that the gunfire and cannon sound effects in the movie were done by Granbury's own Taylor Anderson of Fort Comanche Frontier Firearms. He spent 7 months working on the movie and did those sound effects with real musket balls and real cannon balls. Nothing fake at all! BCould one of the marina owners on Lake Granbury please open a restaurant like the Cajun Cafe but cater to an older more mature ness and caring. Granbury needs more like you! BCheers to Ed Sullivan and his 15-member crew with the Acton Baptist Church who help women in need.

He fixed my outdoor faucet and even refused money for the parts. DTo our deputy fire marshal of our county, Rosemary, you go above and beyond the call of duty in your inspections. So very caring about her job. Rosemary, God bless you. DThe thought of Herrington and Taylor in our school system again sends chills down my spine! Do something useful go RVing.

BCheers, cheers, cheers to Nancy and Craig of Steamway Carpets for the quick response and professional work done in our home when we discovered at 8 p.m. on a Monday night that our hot water heater had popped during the day while we were at work! They immediately and extracted the water, set up fans and checked on us every evening until the carpet was dry. They put in new paid and relaid our carpet at our convenience. They know how to do business. BJeers to those for not being unable to control the golden algae on our lake the last three out of four years.

How we used to enjoy going with our neighbors and chasing the sandies every spring precious memories. BPlease give us more of these $500 a plate political functions. It gives the peasants so many oppor crowd? Some of us would appreciate a lake setting with a calmer atmosphere. BCheers! To Reach Out Ministry fordoing such a great job helping to feed the hungry in Hood County. Most people in Hood County try to over-look this problem, but sorry to tell all of you, it's true.

Keep on keeping on with your good work Reach Out Ministry, the donations will come through. BCHEERS to all the 'Relayers' hard at work in the community! All the team events, from Raffles, to Yard Sales, to Merchant Sales, to a Fish Fry, Spaghetti Supper and more, raises awareness and funds for ACS. The dedication and hard work you show, gives us all HOPE! BOur GISD School Board should not be a launching platform for politicians! We nowhave a rare opportunity to replace 2 "would-be politicians" with people who have made education their lives. BBased on personal working dealings with BOTH ex-GISD employees, I believe GISD is well rid of them and that they in no way be an asset to the school board. BCheers to Dale Taylor and Barbara Herrington for running for the school board.

It's about time we got rid of some of the dead weight and overspenders that are currently serving on the board. I get tired of people complaining about our current school board but not making any changes to it. Let's face it it can't get any worse than it already is. cheerleading parent isn't a teacheron the school boardthe cheerleading then your child is destined to be nothing." Hopefully, winning a position on the cheerleading squad at Tolar ISD or at any other school is not what will determine the destiny of our children. While I understand many want to be on the field leading the cheers for their school district teams, a young person should realize that being a cheerleader is a short-lived honor.

After high school come the real tests which will determine one's destiny. I encourage those who tried out but who were not chosen to try to excel in another area of junior high high school possibilities. Find your niche and be happy. if it's just being the best friend any student could have. Life will prove to have many disappointments, but those disappointments do not mean a person is a especially if they continue to try.

DJeers to someone that is running for a local office that will park their car or pickup on the square all day with their sign displayed taking up parking space that is needed for shoppers or someone doing business at the courthouse. DCheers to Keith Louden who saw my 14-year-old son in the E.R. at Lake Granbury Medical Center on March 25 with a broken arm.
