The Exchange was incorporated on June 17, 1940, as a nonprofit corporation. First headquarters were located in a corrugated iron building at 1506 Mayflower street In 1942, with activities out-growing the cramped Mayflower street quarters, the Exchange moved to 200 Pine street. Permanerit headquarters were set up in the old Eineard property, 2501 North Front street, on September 1, 1948, which the Exchange acquired on July 6, 1948.

Barren Joins Staff James L. Barren, secretary, joined the staff in September, 1939. He is a graduate of Reading High School and the Wharton Extension School of the University of Pennsylvania. The first Central Pennsylvania Builders' Show was staged under Barren's direction In 1939, with 23,000 persons attending. The second and third annual shows followed in 1940 and 1941, after which there' was a five-year lapse because of World War II.

Tell the skaters to place their skates in the pail before crossing the room. After removing their outer garments, they should be given a rag and taught to clean the blades immediately. This procedure eliminates dirty floors and rusty skates. Partitions are no longer placed arbitrarily to close off space regardless of the family's needs and habits. Wall locations are planned to bring doors near each other, eliminating crisscross "traffic" through rooms.

Partitions are thinner and fewer than a few years ago. Although a two-inch saving on each side of a partition may ap- the interior of a house' after the exterior was designed. Architects in all sections who today are concentrating on the small home design the interior first. They use enormous ingenuity in utilizing every inch of space, every bit of knowledge of color and light, every new development in building materials and equipment to make today's small nvi l.
