Mary Henry. a negress, was shot and killed by Albert Arnold Tuesday. night about 8 o'clock at the horne of Tobe Bogle on Richardson street near CenIra! avenue. Mary Henry's home is near Rockford and Tuesday she came to the city and stopped at Tobe Bogle a house. Shortly atter eating her supper, she walked Into the front room and was followed by Arnold, who fired five shots, each taking effect, causing her death within twenty minutes after the snooting occurred.

The cause of the shooting is supposed to have been jealousy, as they were once sweethearts, and It is understood. that they had fallen out. Patrolmen SwaggErty and Haynes were On the scene soon after the shooting occurred, but Arnold had made his escape. They at once summoned medical aid, but the woman died before assistance arrix-ed. P. Hackney was called and held an inquest over the remains of the dead woman, and after examining sevcral witnesses, the Jury rendered a verdict that she came to her death from pistol shots fireby Albert Arnold. tier remains were taken to the morgue of the Hall Donahue Coffin company, and will be shipped to Rockford today for burial. This is the third woman that haa been murdered within the last nine months, and the murderer of each escaped. The first was Dinah Shoun, who was killed by her son, Clifford Shout).

Georgia Bell was killed a short time ago by Annie Blair, and Mary Henry makes the third. This morning. Maggie 'West, a negTess, was bound to the 4riminal court by 'Squire W. A. Knabe on the charge of murdering Francis Simpson, a year and a half old child.

The murder occurred' on May 25. Maggie West and the child mother were quarreling, and Maggie threw a rock, striking the child on the head. causing the child's death. A warrant was sworn out for her and placed in the hands of Patrolmen Dobson and Kyle, who arrested her a few days ago. 'Squire Knithe fixed her bond at 15.000.
