DOW BAD1SCHECHEMICALCOM PANY. THE VENTURE IS A RESULT OF THE FORESIGHT OF DR. A. I'. BEUTEL OF DOW AND DR. BKRHNAHD TIMM OF BASF, WHO PROVIDED THE ORIGINAL INITIATIVE FOR ORGANIZING THK COMPANY. AFTER STARTING WITH A WORK FORCE OF 25 MEN, THE COMPANY HAS GROWN TO THE PRESENT 500 EMPLOYEES AND CONTRACTOR PERSONNEL. THE ANNUAL CAPACITY HAS GROWN FROM TJIE ORIGINAL 18 MILLION POUNDS TO THE PRESENT TOTAL OF 1.43 BILLION POUNDS. AT THIS TIME THE CHEMICAL OPERATIONS PRODUCES 9 MAJOR PRODUCTS: ACRYLIC ACID, ACRYLIC iiSTMRS, IJITANOLS, CYCLOHKXANONK, HYDROXYLAMINK, CAl'KOLACTAM, AMMONIUM SL'LFATK, 1'Ol.V- CAl'KOLACTAM, AND AUITIC ACIJJ AND WILL 1'HOUl'CK OXO ALCOIIUI^J NKXT VKAH.
