Time, 1:42. AT OAKLAND: Sai Francisco, Nov. thousand people saw the Thanksgiving handicap at a mile and a furlon, at Oakland today. The race was won by Claude, the frequent derby winner. who was added late last, evening.

Proper was favorite, while 8 tol was put against Claude. The Daly horse went to the front and was never headed, winning easily from Fossil and Grail, two outsiders. The eVent had a value of ri190, of which 82.520 wont to the winner. Proper was unfortunate in the early stages, almost being thrown hici knees. Soon after the start in the third race.

C. A. toys could hold opponents very well on this line, but it was end runs which resulted in the great gains for Baker-Himel. Gains for the former team were made principally by center rushes, for they could not round the ends of the Baker-Mmel team. Thomas made most of tbese center gains.
