WILLIAMS, MINISTER LAMAR CHRISTIAN CHURCH That Darkness May Not Overshadow Their Eyes Jimmy answered the request of his teacher and brought a neighborhood friend to Church School. Role call was taken as usual, with each giving a Bible verse in answer to his name. The visiting friend was figiting in his chair restlessly because he had not b?en taurrht any Bible verses. Jimmy answered to his name with the Verse, "He who hath ears let him hear". After this the visiting boy sat up straight in his chair and responded to his name with, "He who hath eyes let him see". Though not exactly Scriptural, this ;esponse was none the less a message from on high to those who have shut their eyes to "The Light of the World". Men were created to be "sons of light" but for the love of darkness their children's eyes are becoming blinded to "The Light of the World". The waters deep in the interior of Mammoth Cave, Kentucky contain fish whose parents bore then- offspring in utter darkness. Upon examining them closely one finds little blister-looking places on their heads where their vision should originate. It is most evident that some of their ancient ancestors fell into darkness rather than into the light. As a result their offspr.n^ see neither the darkness of the cave nor the light that it sometimes brought before their closed eyes. We of this present world have a great challenge—to "cast off the woiks of durkness and to put on the armor of Light" (Rom. 13:12). "What must I do?" you may ask. All about are groups of people dedicated to the great challenge and total mission of Christ's Church. With Jesus as their guiding light they are committed to the purposes of "sons of Light"; that all may know and glority the source of Light; and that none be found living as blind fish in d.ii'!;"ne:l caves of selfcenterdness. You too may magnify this Light that darkness may not overshadow the eyes of mankind. He who has eyes, let him see. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." "You are the light of the \\orld". Reestablish the Light which is within you and that is to be passed on through you b> serving Chr^t with the Christian Family of your choice!
