to put his team ahead to stay The Tide threw an early-minute Lees-MclRae Rally Beats Brevard 13-7 BANNER ELK Oct Bobcats rallied to defeat Brevard 13 to 7 here today Brevard scored first when Riggins took a pass from Owens and raced 45 yards for the marker Hipps added the extra point The Bobcats scored when Davidson intercepted a pass on his own 30 and ran it back to the Brevard 15 Galloway and Rogers carried to the three and Rogers went over for the TD The Lees-McRae team captured its winning margin in the fourth stanza when Galloway loosed a 10-yard pass to Davidson for the score Penninger Gil Stephenson burst loose for two -touchdowns' ill the third period at Sunswept Michie Stadium today to down a hard fighting Harvard team 20 to 7 Gen Omar Bradley Army Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Army Kenneth Royall led a large gold braided delegation to witness this renewal of a famous series but the biggest mart on hand was Stephenson the lowly yearling from Colombus Ga as he scored all Bailey are five capable reserves Dan Weekley hold down the left guard spot for the Bucs He is the co-captain this year Weekley is one of the outstanding guards of this section This is the third season that he has terrorized the enemy backs On defense Week-ley is a whirling deverish that is always in the other backfield He is noted for his bone-crushing tackles and often shakes up a back enough to cause a fumble On offense Weekley is at his best when he is blocking downfield On at least one occasion this season he has blocked three men on a single play Weekley prepped at Erwin High for Cap Isbill and gained all-star honors for the Blue Devils Mono Bailey is running mate Although Bailey is not as brilliant as Weekley he is a rough customer on both offense and defense Mono sometimes does best cn defense and uses his 175 pounds to the disadvantage of the opposition Groseclose starred for" the Kingsport Indians for three seasons Kermit Maupin is a new boy on the squad but before the season is over he may push into a starting assignment Maupin weighs around 170 but he makes up in fight what he lacks in weight Jim Crockett is the smallest of the guests but he stands out on defense Several seasons ago he played for the Milligan Buffs at guard He is one of the hardest men to block on the Buc squad Crockett calls Bristol his home George Leong packs more weight than any of the other guards and has seen some action Before the season is over fans may see more of Leong He is a former Johnson City Hill topper The last of the guards is Johnson who came to State from Castle Heights Military Academy He is gaining experience this season and next year will see him seeing plenty of action Midgets To Play Erwin Tuesday The Recreation Midgets will seek to gain another win over Love Street School of Erwin In a football game Tuesday at 8 pm at Memorial Stadium Johnson Midgets defeated the Erwin team 12-7 the past week and the Unicoi boys will be seeking to gain revenge bulldozing fullback accounted for the other by barrelhousing through the entire Ole Miss team from the 26 yard line standing up in the end zone Only once did Ole 1 Miss show power on the ground Dixie Howell turned in a 60-yard sprint to the goal line running like a man with his shirt tail on fire Ole Miss made a heart-breaking bid to uphold its great reputation with a ground drive in the fourth 41-yard gallop five minutes before the game ended Forman And Wofford Battle To 7-7 Tie GREENVILLE Oct 16 (UR) Furman halfback Charlie Johnson broke up a last-quarter goal line stand to earn the Purple Hurricane a 7-7 tie with unbeaten but frustrated Wofford today it was the fourth straight tie of the season for Wofford which held a 7-0 lead until late in the final period and made a gallant bid to hold the advantage Three times the Wofford line held on the one-yard line On fourth down plunge carried him over and Little converted Wofford scored in the third period when tailback Sammy Sewell took a handoff from fullback Elrod Cheatham and scooted 47 yards to score Quick booted the extra point as they lost the ball on fumbles in their own territory and at their front door Minnesota finally Lindy parsing and running for a 27-14 victory over Texas A and Three touchdowns were jammed into the last 10 minutes of the second period The Frogs recovered a fumble on the Aggie nine and Pete Stout went the last two yards The Aggies then scored when Bobby Goff passed from the five over the goal to Cedric Copeland The Frogs came back to score in five plays with Stout pitching to the one from
