Anti-Islam ads are hate speech 22 Monday, April 27, 2015 Germantown, Re "Court OKs bus posters that hit Islam for 'killing Jews' (April 22) Does the rightto free speech mean the right to be hateful? In her effort to "stop the Islam-ization of America," Pamela Geller has taken out anti-Islam ads on buses and subway stations in major cities for the last few years.

Geller says she wants to make Americans aware of her claim that Islam is anti-Semitic and a religion of violence. The latest controversial ad to be posted on MTAbuses quotes a line from Hamas TV that says, "Killing Jews is worship that draws us close to Allah. As an American Muslim, I understand the rights provided to us by our Constitution. However, I am baffled that, underthe guise of freedom of speech, a known extremist (as labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center) is given free rein to spew her vitriol against law-abiding citizens of this country. These ads can achieve nothing but sow the seeds of hatred.

But one essential question he hasn't answered is how all those people he gets off the roads are going to find their way to work. If spracti-cally impossible to jam into a subway car during rush hour as it is. Buses arejustasbad.

Until you have the infrastructure in place to get those people to work, pricingthem out of driving isn't the answer. AmyMcCloskey America's shame KewGardens: RobertMor-genthau correctly points out that Hitler used the example of the Armenian genocide to justify his own heinous acts courage to call genocide what it is," Op-Ed, April 24). ButMorgenthau could have looked closer to home, as Hitler also praised the U.S. genocide againstNative Americans, including its use of the reservation system, to rationalize his actions.

Morgenthau says the Ottoman genocide against Armenia was the first genocide of the 20th century. But, again, our genocide againstNative Americans continued into the 20th century though itturned more to destroying language, culture and religion. The fact that we still violate Native Americans' treaties shows that we also are in denial. Morgenthau wants to make sure the U.S. speaks strongly in calling the actions by the Ottoman Empire a genocide.

We should also make sure that we do the same for Native Americans, and honoring our treaties is the best way to do that. JonLandsbergis Core issues movement against Common Core tests is not hitting Judge not South Amboy, N.J. Come on, people, leave Bruce alone takes a drag," April 22) To each his or her own. Suzanne Friedman Chasing skirts Maspeth: I must your embarrassing coverage of Bruce Jenner'stransgendersaga. Does this really belong on the cover of the paper? The food stamp people, with incorrect calculations, say she makes too much money and is not eligible. I contacted my local politicians from state senators down and, guess what, no one wants to help.

Ray Hackinson Be fair to cops Elmhurst: Voicer Vincent Edwards is not stating facts. The police do not seek sympathy; they seek afair examination of the factsbefore rushing to judgement.

For instance, Edwards states that it was unfair of the police to shoot ablack teen, Michael Brown of Ferguson, for stealing cigars. Brown was not shot because he stole cigars. He was shotbecause he threatened a police officer with violence. Edwardsfurther states that a man was choked because he sold loosies.
