Storm Squad Loses To Galena Park, 14-6 Galena Park'i visiting sopn- pmores broke up a 8-8 deadlock in the final Jive minutes by pushing across a -touchdown and went on to beat the Braz- osport Storm Squad. 14-8, last night. The Storm Squad drew Galena Park into Hopper Field, while the Ship Junior Varsity traveled to Galena Park and were beaten, 24-8. The varsity duel between Brazosport and Galena Park, which ushers in the District 12-AAAA season, will be staged tonight at Hopper Field, starting at 7:30 p.m. Brazosport's sophomore troops, coached by Jamas Cox and Johnny Redden, marched IB yards In the second quarter to tack up six points. The runs of Tommy Sellers md Max Smith, plus the passing of quarterback Dan Nicholson, sparked the long drive. .Nicholson accounted for the , P. oinls on a keeper up the middle from two yards out. Galena Park snapped the 8-0 tie with 4:30 to go in the game by scoring a six pointer and adding the two point PAT, making the final score 14-6. Holding a 1-1 overall record for the 1959 football season, the Storm Squad will travel to South Houston on Wednesday Three Games Set In 12-A Loop Tonight Three games are on the District 12-A football schedule to- iiight, while one contest will be staged on Saturday night. Tonight's headline scrap will be unfolded in Sweeny where the Lanier Wildcats are visiting. Lanier opened their 12-A campaign last week with a 26-6 win over Holing, while Sweeny was losing to Angleton 46-6. Other conference rounds tonight will find Kindleton at West Columbia and Crescent at El Campo. All three games will start at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Van Vleck will visit Angleton to face the Lions I m a tossup duel. The Lions i are defending district champions and have already woi two loop dates.
