Ph. 1661 Dean of American Newsmen Buried DALLAS, March 1—t/P)—-. George B. Dealey, dean of American journalism and citizen of Texas, was buried yesterday afternoon under the bare, towering oaks of Grove Hill cemetery. Only the family and close friends were present, but the First Presbyterian church was filled to capacity for the funeral services for the 80- year-old publisher of the Dallas Morning News. . He had asked that friends give money to charity rather than spend it for flowers for him, but the front of the church auditorium was banked with floral tributes. Court, Gray County, Texas By Louise Stuart, Deputy. March 1, 8, 15, 22. spray was atop the grey casket... In death, as in life, tributes came on the day of his burial to this man who never Wished or reacned 1 , for them. "We thank God for George Bi Dealey," said Dr. Frank C. Brown,, pastor of the First Presbyterian- church during the simple funeral services. "He was the first oitir- zen of our state and a friend; of : all mankind." The R£V. R. A. Deison, pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian church said. "Mr. Dealey exemplified the highest of the high in. U&>. tegrity of character. He: had ; a< great, understanding heart. H^ loved mercy," .-.. To these tributes was added that , of a grey-haired elderly Negro, man, his eyes wet with tears as he stood on the sidewalk in front'of:''the church. He was Walter BoswelV who served G. B. Dealey as attendant and chauffeur for 37 years. "Mr. Dealey," said he, "was the greatest man that ever lived' and died on this earth and I've lost my best friend. He always had his hand in his pocket to give something to somebody and he never looked at the color of a man's'skin. Many's the time I've seen hinvwalk up to old colored men he never saw before and pat them on the bacjc and give them a dollar. He always thought of other people instead of, himself and nobody will ever know a half of the good things he "did. Just a few minutes before he died he looked up at me and said; 'Take care of yourself, Walter,' "There's a big empty place in my heart today." .
