Ike Administration Gets Expert Help Onfarm Program •WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 —UP— The Eisenhower administration can expect 'expert" help from at least one Democrat in'its effort to sell Congress a felxible farm price support system. The expert is Sen. Clinton. P. Anderson (D-N.MJ, an agriculture secretary who had a prominent hand : in writing flexible supports into the basic farm law in. 1949. The trouble, Anderson said Wed-' nesday. is that Congress has never been willing to let the flexible law become effective. It has kept propping the basic farm commodities at 90 per cent of parity through what he calls a series of stop-gap measures. Anderson said in an interview that Mr. Eisenhower's' farm price proposals are basically sound. "We can't start to solve our agriculture problems in a time when we have growing surpluses unless we wipe out these mandatory 90 per cent supports as stimulants to production. And high, rigid 90 per cent supports to stimulate production, usually in the wrong products." He cited wheat as & "perfect example." "We keeo stimulating production when about S2 billion of Commodity Credit Corp. lending power is tied up in wheat alone," he said. "High supports promote production- on marginal land, which ought to be returned to cover crops."
