Brazoria Church Youths Present Christmas Play Children of the Brazoria Methodist Church presented a pageant, "Twas the Night Before Christmas", Thursday night. Mrs. Furness Gotcher, Intermediate Department teacher, nr>-' Mrs. Thomas Bucy, Nurse.. Department t e a c h er, were in charge of the pageant. About 40 youngsters took part in the presentation for church members and parent?. An offering for the Methodist orphanage in Waco was taken during the program. After the pageant there was A Christmas tree in Fellowship Hall ol the church which was decorated for the holidays. The children brought gifts which were distributed by Santa Claus. The best way to blanch almonds is to cover shelled ones with cold water, bring to a boll and drain. When cool enough to handle, slip off the skins by pressing between thumb and forefinger. Joe Henry Coe is a freshman at Baylor University in Waco. His father is pastor of the church. A Student Night at Christmas is sot for the evening service on Sunday. Participating will be students who are home from various colleges and universities. Theme of the program is "Found Faithful", and three topics wi 11 be discussed. Miss Doris Nell Coward will speak on "Found Faithful in Dreams and Ideals", Robert Danford will talk |on "Found Faithful in Work and Deeds", and Joe -Henry Coe will take "Found Faithful in Knowledge and Growth". The Rev. Coe will close the program with a brief message. Shanks Home Site Of UDC Chapter Christmas Party The Lamar Fontaine Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy held its annual Christmas party at the Clute home of Mrs. F. M. Shanks with Mrs. S. Y. Journeay as co-hostess. The home was decorated for the occassion with silver and green arrangements. Focal ooint of the room was the fireplace where a fire burned. After a business session a story ol Christmas in the Old South was read by Mrs. W. B. Killebrew of Alvin. The refreshment table carried out the Christmas motif. Mrs. Lee Murray presided at the punch bowl. Coffee, punch, tea, salads, sandwiches, and fruitcake were served buffet style. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. T. W. Smith in Angleton. The program is to acquaint people of the home church with college religious life -.'id, particularly, the work of the Baptist Student Union program on the campuses. It also stresses the relation of the home church program to that of the college. The program Is designed to acquaint high school students with BSU and college activities. The Rev. Coe says one purpose of the evening is to assure students that the home church has concern for them while they are on college campuses. Karen Is Honoree AT FP Party On Eiahth Birthday Karen Childs was honored on her eighth birthday Saturday with a parry at the Velasco Community House given by her mother, Mrs. L. R. Childs of Freeport, who was assisted with hostess duties by Mrs. Harold Nelson and Lucrettia. A Christmas theme was carried out in decorations. The refresh • ment table was covered with a white lace cloth and the gift table was laid with a poinsettia design cloth. Favors also carried out the Christmas motif. The birthday cake was white decorated with red roses. Several games wore plnyed and winner of the prize was Laura Mclntire of Lake Jackson.
