Pamjja News, Sunday, Jane 8, AH Pompons Urged Obtain Trash Lids battle against liies and other garbage pests, the city instructed ihe PMnpa Fire u'eparment to construct Wooden lids for trash barrels along a pattern used by Amarillo householders. The lids, made with two stout pieces of timber on the under side and a bolted handle on top. lit snugly on top of the trash ban-els and are too heavy for a wandering dog to nose off or for the wind to blow off leaving paper and trash frte to blow around yards or alleys. They are painted a glossy white and will wit practically every barrel in the city. To date the Fire Department has built close to 50 of the lids and hnvo thrm stored in the Central Fire Station for those who wish to purchase them at one dollar per liti The lids can nlso ue purchased bv calling the city barn (1396) and having the dollar placed on the owner's water bill.
