Neariy complete, unofficial returns showed Rodolfo Palomo and incumbent Ed Trevino of , the Raza Unida party defeated Teodoro Munoz Jr. and Alfredo Ramon of a "For'Better'Gov- ernment" ticket by more than 400 votes each. The figures included absentee votes—over which a dispute arose. A school official said a judge ordered the ballots impounded pending a review of a number of absentee votes that were thrown out by election officials for various reasons. He said opponents of Raza Unida obtained the impoundage order. The unofficial returns showed Palomo received 1,657 votes and Trevino 1,668, compared to 1,236 for Munoz and 1,218 for Ramon. Raza Unida gained a 4 to 3 majority on the school board in one of the hottest elections of Southwest Texas a year ago. Saturday's victory gave the party a 5 to 2 trustee control of the predominantly Mexican-American school District.
