AUGUST U, m Z Pick Up for two The Litterbug and you CUT WRAf Ib Court Hears Precinct Requests, Opens Bids GIROUARD'S A re-quested change in (lie lines hetvvr-e-n voting prerinds, justire- prroinots and rommissionpr pre-c-inolR in the Rosharon area was discussed briefly bill no action lakcn by Commissioners' Court, |al its recent meetinc. I Mr. and Mrs. \V, E. Srlnveinle ill a d requested the change, ex- iplainins that at present they must pass one polling place in order to iget to the polling place in which i liev are to vote. This change would mean changing both the justice and commissioner precinct lines, hrcmise it is at the dividing line between those precincts, they said. The Court discussed the problem briefly, but said any change in the justice precinct lines would result in lerminaling the terms of office of all precinct officers such as justices of the peace. Any such line changes must be made' at the regular August meet- ing cf the Court, according to law. Scbweinle was asking that the boundary line be the Ramsey Stale Prison Kami boundary. RIDS The Court opened bids and awarded contracts on two different types of materials. A contract to furnish the county's Mosquito Control District with mala- thion insecticide went to California Chemical Company ot Dallas, on Something you should think about if you're about to buy a truck: If all trucks were built the same way, . cost the same to keep up, were worth the same at trade-in . . . then probably the price tag would be your only concern. It can't be, of course, because some trucks have more quality than others. And marks of quality are the real keys to low cost. Chevrolet trucks, for example, have double-wall construction, which gives bodies and cabs more strength. Cabs are insulated against heat, cold and noise. A big part of road shock, which shortens truck life, is damped out by Chevrolet's suspension system; it also makes riding in the truck a pleasure. Pickup bodies and cabs are separated to eliminate stress between them. Value such as this has induced more people in invest in Chevrolet trucks every year since 1937. This can be a good time to buy a modern new Chevrolet truck Late summer traditionally is the season for all-around savings on a new Chevrolet truck . . . selection is still good . . . deliveries are prompt . . . and Chevrolet dealers are doubly anxious to put you into a new vehicle in order to make way for next year's models. Coupled with the .efficient performance a new Chevrolet truck will give you, it seems evident that you couldn't buy at a better time. Come in and take full advantage of it! its low bid. Other bidders (or that contract were Stauffer Chemical Co. of Houston, which failed to submit a bidder's check; Dnn- bury Farm Supply of Danbury; Thompson - IleywooH Chemical Co. of Houston: and Stockman Supply Co. of Angleton. The insecticide bids were awarded on recommendation of County Auditor Frank A. Taylor and Mosquito Control Director ,T. C. McNeill IV. ; Contracts for Type C Shell and PUR Mill Mix Sand Stabilize Shell were awarded to the Matagorda Shell Company, only bidder o n those materials, on recommendation of Taylor and County Engineer William H. Hersbey. i The Court directed Taylor to ad- jvertise for bids on lumber and liling for construction work I n lie County Road and Bridge De- lartment. The Court will open hose bids at 11 a.m., Sept. 10. Specifications are to be furnished by the County Engineering De- ailment. MR CONDITIONING Hersbey was requested to make measurements and estimate the air conditioning needs of the County Health Department, located in the west end of the 01 d Courthouse building. He is then to report to the Court concerning the size and ype of air conditioner needed to lelp cool that department t o some extent. This action was tak- >n on request from Dr. Catherine 3. Coleman, director of the Do lartment.
