E., noted Scotch bagpipe instructor, reports that he taught 713 pipers from British Dominions and other countries. The courses were sponsored by the Piobaireachd Society at Edinburgh Castle. Night Manager Albert Johnson, James Horky and Cecil Houston were sitting in the office when a holdup man came in, pointed a pistol and said: "Where is it?" Johnson said "in the cashier's office" and started to lead the way, but broke into a run. Horky ran out another door; and Houston fled through a third. The puzzled holdup man hesitated, chased Johnson for a minute, then apparently gave> up in disgust. $780 FOR OLD ATLAS LONDON— (IP)— One of the earliest Brtish atlasses, "The Theater of Great Britaine" by John Speed, was sold here for $780. Moving to Borger six years ago from Manhattan, Kans., and setting up a business, Ralph Bradshaw established his shop here quite by accident in October, 1945. Mr. Bradshaw sold out his business in Borger and started for California, but misfortune came his way and he chose Fampa and his new home. Offering pick up and delivery service to Pampans, Mr. Bradshaw is equipped to overhaul any make of washer, electric irons and any and all electric motors. The praying mantis can turn its head like a man. , February 1M.946 -FAMPA HtWS Offers of Help as Fire Strikes Are Appreciated by Mr. and Mrs. Tyler Dallas Streetcar Men Negotiate Contract DALLAS, Feb. 12— (IP) —Dallas streetcar workers will open negotiations today for a new contract with the Dallas Railway and Terminal company, E. R. Thompson, secretary and business manager. Local 1338, Amalgamated Association of Street, Electric Railway and Motor Coach Employes of American (APL) announced. The present contract expires Feb. 28. Wage increases, sick leave and change in working hours will be sought by the union he said. The company employes approximately 1,100 workers. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Tyler, who lost all their household furnishings' and their, clothes when their apartment burned, along with two supply houses, last week, have a very kind word for the people who offered their help. Commenting on the kindness shown them by the people of Pampa. Mrs. Tyler, who is known as Irene by her friends, said: "We didn't know there were that many nice people in the whole world." Mr. and Mrs. Tyler operate the Rex Coffee Shop, 318M- W. Foster street. The Tylers have been residents of this city for the past year, having come here from Amarillo. Mrs. Tyler said they were offered help by people whom they did not eVfen know. One lady called to say- that her little girl-about the age of the Tyler's Melva Jean—had lo.st her little cocker spaniel, and she wanted to sympathize with the Tylers in the loss of their cocker spaniel. Melva Jean was asked to share the wardrobe of her daughter's. Such gestures, Mrs. Tyler said, are appreciated. They show the spirit of the people. The people did not call with charity in mind, but rather with the knowledge that many things lost in a fire cannot be replaced at this time » CALL OF THE WILD TOO WILD FOR LAST MAN HOQUIAM, Wash.— </P) — Sixty- nine-year-old Elliott Anderson, last living member of the Ozette tribe, has been disclosed as the sole owner of the tip of Washington's Olympic peninsula. Anderson came into possession of ( the reservation, a mile square of j timbered land near Neah Bay, back I in 1936 when the only other survivor of the Ozette's, Charles Web- erhard, died. It's too lonely for Anderson on his reservation so he lives with members of the Makah tribe, also near Neah Bay.
