THE PLAIN SPEAKER, HAZLETON, SATURDAY AFTERNOON, JULY 24, 1954 16 Freeland Man Dies In Italy Matthew Dallas, of 930 North street, Freeland, died suddenly on Thursday in Monte, Trento, Italy, where he was spending a vacation visiting yesterday in relatives. a cablegram was to learned This wife. Born in Italy, Mr. Dallas came to this country 1921 and first took residence in Mount Carmel began working at a colliery.

In 1930, he came to Freeland and has worked for many years at the Hazleton Shaft Colliery of the Lehigh Valley Coal Co. He was a member of St. Anthony's R. C. Church, of Freeland.

Survivors include his wife, the former Julia Ravina, and these six children: Capt. Frank Dallas, Fort Bragg, N. Sylvester, Julia, and Matthew, at home; Mrs. Dorothy Odorizzi, Bronx, N. and Alfred, serving with the Navy aboard the U.

S. S. Leary now in a Netherlands port. Five sisters also surviving include Mrs. Mabel Chelvi, Mount Carmel; Mrs.

Fiore Mattavi, New York City; Mrs. Josephine Bertuzzi, of Pittsburgh; and two sist-: ers in Europe. A solemn high mass of requiem will be offered up tomorrow at 8 a. Rev. Francis Bitetti in St.

Anthony's Church. No burial details have been announced. Deaths Deaths RICHARD KEIPER Richard Keiper, 96, a native of Weatherly, died this morning at the West Jersey Hospital, Camden, N. J. He had been living with daughter, Mrs.

Nora Kane, of Collingswood, N. J. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Kane are two more daughters, Mrs. Preston Metzgar of Somerville, N.

and Mrs. John Koch of Collingswood, N. J. The funeral will be held Thursday at 1:30 p. m.

from the Warner funeral home in Weatherly. Services will be at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church under the direction of Rev. Samuel Stauffer. Interment will be in the Union cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening.

MRS. MARY SESSOCK Mrs. Mary Sessock, of 102 Middletown, Jeddo, died Friday at 1:50 p. m. at St.

Joseph Hospital where been a patient chad six days. She was born in Austria Hungary, and had resided in Ebervale No. 3 until four months ago moving to Middletown, Jeddo. She was a devout member of St. Michael's Ukrainian G.

C. Church. Surviving are her husband Joseph and the following children: Yuhas of Philadelphia; Mrs. MilAndrew of Oakdale; Mrs. a Anna dred Pesitka of McAdoo; Mrs.

Henry Flaim of Oneida; William Sessock of South Middletown; Mrs. Leroy Anthony of Chester; Mrs. Anthony Sulkevich of Harleigh; Mrs. Michael Velk of Bethlehem; Mrs. James Cole of New York; Joseph Sessock of Philadelphia; Walter Sessock of Hazleton; Olga Sessock, at home.

There 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also surviving. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a. m. from the family home. high wass will be celebrated Michael's UkrainRequiem, ian G.

WILLIAM MIDDLEKAMP William E. Middlekamp, 72, of Lansford, was stricken ill while waiting for a bus in Lansford on Thursday afternoon and was admitted to Coaldale Hospital at 12:20 p. m. He died at 7:40 p.m. A native of Hauto, he was a son of the late Lewis and Emma Driesbach Middlekamp and lived in Tamaqua and Locust Valley most of life, moving to Tamaqua 10 years ago.

He was employed by L. N. C. for 50 years and last worked at Tamaqua. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford, he was aiso a member of Odd Fellows Lodge and Protective Home Circle, Tamaqua.

Mrs. Anastasia O'Larnic Katrishen of this city, who died the State Hospital on Wednesday, was buried from the Burein home for funerals this morning.

Requiem high mass was offered up in Holy Trinity Slovak Roman Catholic church with Rev. Leo Gardzalla as celebrant and Father Gardzalla gave the blessing at the grave in St. Gabriel's cemetery. The pallbearers were: Elias Krushko, Edward Polchin, John Kashi, Robert Smith, John Sorokotch and Kenneth Connors. Frank Cesario of First street, Kelayres, who died Tuesday at the Hazleton State Hospital, was buried this morning from the family residence.

Solemn mass of requiem was celebrated in the Immaculate Conception church, Kelayres, by Rev. Joseph Berardi, with Rev. Michael Holly, as deacon and Rev. James Hughes, sub-deacon. Rev.

Paul Piskel and Rev. Edwin McElduff, visiting priests, read masses at the side altars. Interment was in the parish cemetery. Members of the Sons of Italy Lodge attended the funeral and representing the lodge were the following pallbearers: Anthony Rizzo, Anthony Eramo, John Polumbo, Joseph Mascarell, John Orlando and Nazarino Patriotti. The funeral of Henry Franklin Schaeffer of this city, who died Thursday, was held this afternoon from the Bachman Brothers funeral home with Rev.

H. Clay Bergstresser, D.D., in charge of services. Interment was in Mt. View cemetery and the pallbearers were: William King, Walter, Joseph and Clayton Kelshaw, Stanley Miller and William Herrity. Charles Spaide Phillips, of Ardmore, son of the late Mr.

Dies While On Vacation A 69-year-old Hazletonian vacationing for the past two weeks with friends at their home in Hobbie, died suddenly last night at 9:30 o'clock, He is Thomas East, of 130 North Wyoming street, who retired in 1950 from a janitorial position with the Pennsylvania Power Light here. and Mrs. East, she is the former Cora Stout from Dorrance and has been an invalid for the past 10 years, have been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Jensen and Mr. East had been in apparently good health.

But last night he went to the yard of the Jensen property close the chicken coop and when those in the house didn't see his flashlight any longer, they investigated and found him dead. The deceased was born in Dover, N. and came to Hazleton as a young man. He worked with the power company for 19 years before retiring. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include daughter, Mrs.

Triska, one, Philadelphia, two brothers, John of Hazleton, and Joseph, of Allentown, and three stepchildren, Carl Stein, Hazleton, and Emerson Stein and Mrs. James Donnelly, both of Philadelphia. The funeral will be held Monday at 10:30 o'clock from the Cragle Funeral Home, Hobbie, with interment in the Dorrance Cemetery. Rev. Arthur Kleintop, of the Hobbie Lutheran Church, will officiate.
