GOP Women Have Panel Program "What's My Secret?" program was the entertainment feature of last night's meeting of West Hazle ton Council of Republican Women, held at Farmer's Hotel in the bor ough. UP) An elevator accident, in which a baby was crushed to death Monday, has claimed a second victim, the child's mother. Mrs. Marie Handwerk, 25, of Manhattan, died yesterday of injuries suffered when she fell three stories down an elevator shaft in a vain effort to keep a rising elevator from crushing her 6-month-old daughter, Linda.

Linda was in a baby carriage that became wedged between the elevator and the shaft wall when the elevator started to rise without an operator. Crowder teacher of music and band and choral director at the Coughlin High School, marking the first time in the history of the Wilkes-Barre schools that a negro has been placed on the faculty.
