Virginia's question again By DAVE HARRISON NORTH CHATHAM, N.Y. (AP) — Virginia O'Hanlon Douglas, whose childhood question has become nearly »s much of the Christmas spirit as holly nid mistletoe, celebrates her 75th Christmas this year — the 67th since she asked the New York Sun "Is there a Santa Claus?" ' That question undoubtedly has been raised about as many times as 7-year-olds have become worldly 8-year-olds. But it is doubtful whether any parent' ever answered better than Francis P. Church in his editorial reply. "Y«, Virginia, there it • Santa Claus," the editorial said. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist. . . Alas, how-dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. Virginia, now a silver-haired widow with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, lives with her only daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Temple, in this community about 15 miles south of Albany. She moved her* in 1959 after teaching in the New York City school system for 48 years. She said she was over whelmed at the number of Christmas cards —mor^ than 100 — she has received this year. "When there are so many things so very difficult and seemingly impossible in the world, yet people feel kindly to a little girl and a wonderful edi toriai." She has been worrying about how to acknowledge the cards. I'm not very good at correspondence, but I do want to DM. 22, I 1H4 S Mason City, la. .hank everyone. It is a wonderful tribute." An exclusive method adopted by the Hammond Organ Company and originated by the Jones Company. A method that places the emphasis on "music for it's own sake," on the pleasure of creative self-expression, the FUN" of making music yourself, rather than thinking of music simply as an art form to which one should be exposed. Hammond Organ owners will not only leant to play but will continue to play their Hammonds all their lives, not only with pleasure, but with real affection for their beautiful instrument. Owen Babbe, president of the Jones Piano House in Mason City and Hammond Organ Studios in Fort Dodge, states that after a survey made by the Hammond Organ Company the Jones CT-5 method has been adopted by them.
