The press of Kansas City, as by prophetic instinct, called their, fair In advance the Great Exposition and such It truly was. Kansas City 13 by reason of her enterprise rapidly leaving all rivalry behind her. But a few days ago the idea of a great exhibition came to her mind, and she has worked tha whole- problem out to a demonstration, and shown that her ability does not lag behind her enterprise. Her success has bsen wonderful, and everybody who attended the Fair has returned delighted with what they have seen, and pleased with the generous treatment that they have received from the people of Kansas City. The Fair, with its vast Amphitheatre its games its works of art its steam engines and machinery, has left an indellible impression on the minds of all its visitors.

There was corn from the battle-field of "Wilson Creek," and corpulent pumpkins from the "Great American desert' of which our own famed locality is a part The Neutral Land exhibited some specimens of cotton planted last June that were ten feet high. The Fort Scott delegation were received and shown every courtesy by that estimable gentleman John Y. Leveridoe, whom they will ever hold in grateful remembrance. We understand that hereafter the "Exposition" will be a permanent feature of Kansas City, and we hope it will have a continued success, such as the enterprising city and citizens deserve. Notice to Pensioners.

NoTieE. There will be a meeting of the Stockholders in the Ameri can central insurance company, at the office of S. A. Williams, this day, at 10 o'clock In the forenoon. A fall attendance is requested.

Attest, F. Drake, President of Board. S. A. Williams, Manager.

It Everybody likes to deal with an honest man, even If he is not an honest man himself, and people, however insolvent iney may oe a themselves, always like to deal ith a solvent Insurance company. There are many insurance compa nies who have agencies in Fort Seott, and Col. S. A. Williams is a eading insurance man.

The Colonel has developed a new wrinkle in the insurance line that we would recommend for wider adoption A comj any having fail- ed by the Chicago fire, and having been unable to pay Its own losses, Col. Williams, Its Agent, paid the losses of the company accrueing In this neighborhood to the extent of between three or four hundred dol lars, out of his own pocket. From which it appears that however dangerous it may be to be safe elsewhere, in Fort Scott it is perfectly safe to be in danger. Twenty-five millions of losses and four millions of assets is 'the echo from the Wild Cat Insurance Companies of. Chicago.

Brick Pome roy made a speech at an anti-Tam- many meeting In York- the other night, on his return from-a Western tour, which extended to California.

In speaking of the condition cf the Democratic party, he used the followingsignificant language "He was told in the West that the De mocracy was not fit for power that they wonld rule the country as they naa ruisu iNew xoru." That is just what the people think. They nave settled down in the conviction that the Democratic party is, by its very essence and surround ings, unfit for governing; that it is morally incompetent to successfully administer anairs. It failed under Buchanan, and let the country drift into a civil war. It never rose, during the four years of war, to the comprehension of the situation that it was for the life of the nation itself but frittered away its great energies by opposing the means taken to put down the rebellion. It never, after the war.

compre hended the need of new adjust ments to the new order or things. It voted against th; amendment abolishing slavery. It voted against the Civil Rights bill, and all the measures growing out of freedom to th- slaves. It voted me Fourteenth and Fifteenth Jtiients. It voted agaiust all the measures for reducing the taxes, as well.

It proposed nothing advocated nothing did nothing, but vote no. It stole money, swindled the people, corrupted the ballot-box, affiliated with mobs, everywhere it could secure local power. The people could not fail to see and know and they could come to no other judgment that such a party was totally unfitted to rule. Brick Pomeroy lias boldly spoken the truth. Robinson Bro.

A good time is anticipated. North Missouri Insurance Company. This company vindicates its claim on the confidence of the public by a statcmeut which proves its strength. Its losses at Chicago were only ux; its capital is ouu.uuu, within the last year it has more than doubled its capital stoek and in the same time it has paid over $30,000 losses in this btate. it has large real estate security, and its manage ment being in the hands of discreet and responsible business men, is such as to inspire the confidence of nsurers.

After having told him several times that she would leave him unless he treat ed her better, she carried yester day morning her threat into execu tion. He was drinking some during the day and in the evening he staggered into his shanty saylnsr that he had got his dese.

Medical assistance was called. His symptoms were those of poisoning by morphine. His wife also returned. None of the help he received could awaken him from his deep sleep.
