depredations in the mineral resources of Oklahoma and to determine the best methods of bringing them to the surface and rendering their fun commercial value the geological survey has been making extensive field investigations In the state The area by the investigations includes tho northeastern par- '1 tion of the Creek nation practically the whole of the Cherokee nation and all of the sevenstnall reservations the northern part of the state the Seneca Wyandotte Ottawa Shawnye Modoc Peoria and Quawpaw The investigations have been ducted under the supervision of Prof1' C-E Siebenthal and a corps of 'ex-1 pert men from the geological survey here The workable deposits of lead and zinc ores so far as at present known are limited to the northeastern c-orner of the regioa here discussed the area in which they occur being entirely within the Wyandotte quadrangle and coincident-with the territory which was subject to underground solution The ores are found mainly in the sheet breccias at the boone formation but also are found to a considerable extent in sandstone I breccias in the new Miami district The district where mining has been carried on or where the indications have encouraged extensive prospecting are Peoria Sycamore Creek Quawpaw and Miami The ore bodies have various forms dependiug on the structural features of the associated rocks In the basal zonal and fault breccias there are "runs" Sheet breccias carrying "sheet ground" deposits so prominent In the Joplin district of Missouri have as yet not been discovered in Oklahoma The geological survey officials believe that when the understand more thoroughly the different grades of the product the lead and zinc industry of Oklahoma will take-a big boom (Prom Wednesday's Daily) Arney Barbell of
