USC Cuts Its Own Courses LOS ANGELES (AD -- Starting in 1964, college course credits and cutting classes may become obsolete. Many colleges across the country are watching closely the University of Southern California's plan to streamline its academic curriculum. Ur. Norman Topping, presldrnt has announced plans to abolish course credits by 1964. He said th<>. changes will pffect the undergraduate College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School. By September 1964, the number of courses is expected to be reduced from the present 3,500 to 2,000. This move, Dr. Topping said, has resulted from the increasing aptiludo of ent/erinj? frr.shmen. The USC plan include, those proposals- Requiring 32 courses, rather than 124 imit, c , for graduation. Limiting the student to taking hmr courses a semester.
